My first visit to the Gibson Steps on the Great Ocean Road was timed to the very last minute for that perfect shot. The tide was in favour and the weather was supposed to be fantastic...supposed to be !! The rain came down in bucket loads. We couldn't see beyond the windscreen and we learned much about the unpredictability of the Melbourne weather! The second trip to GOR was sort of unplanned and just happened and the weatherman decided to smile on us :)

Der Leuchtturm Westerheversand bei Nacht und ringsherum das Nichts:
Der an der schleswig-holsteinischen Küste wohl bekannteste Leuchtturm wurde 1907 errichtet.
Der letzte Leuchtturmwärter verließ 1978 seine Station, führt aber immer noch gerne Besucher auf seinen Turm. Die beiden Wärterhäuschen werden nun von der Schutzstation Wattenmeer und von der Uni Kiel genutzt.
Der Leuchtturm von Westerheversand ist einer der drei Leuchttürme im Bereich des Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamtes Tönning, in/auf dem Heiratswillige sich das Ja-Wort geben können.

The most famous lighthouse on the Schleswig-Holstein coast was built in 1907.
The last lighthouse keeper left his station in 1978, but still likes to lead visitors to his tower. The two guard houses are now used by the Wattenmeer protection station and the University of Kiel.
The lighthouse of Westerheversand is one of the three lighthouses in the area of the waterway and shipping office Tönning, in/on which marriage-willing can give itself the yes-word.

Die Hamburger Behörde für Stadtentwicklung und Wohnen: Das wellenförmige, ca. 200 m lange Gebäude besteht aus einem 12-geschossigen, gerundeten Hochhaus von 54 m Höhe, an das zwei 5-geschossige Seitenflügel anschließen. 20 Farbtöne, gebildet aus den drei Grundfarben Blau, Rot, Gelb und dem Mischton Grün, mit jeweils fünf Untertönen, finden sich zu Farbfeldern zusammen, die aneinandergereiht das Gebäude umspannen.
The Hamburg Authority for Urban Development and Housing: The undulating, approx. 200 m long building consists of a 12-storey, rounded high-rise building of 54 m Höhe, to which two 5-storey side wings are connected. 20 colour tones, formed from the three basic colours blue, red, yellow and the mixed shade green, each with five undertones, come together to form colour fields that surround the building in a row.

Always on the lookout for abstract shapes and patterns created by buildings in the city against the sky. This is as close as I've come to finding that ever illusive perfect X in the sky!

On my way to Kamloops, I had thoughts in mind for a photo of the hoodoos prior to sundown. However, an unintended delay stretched my departure and I missed my planned arrival. To that end it is always a good idea to have an alternate destination. There are so many opportunities out there that the one in mind will wait for another day.
This place was my alternate destination and has often rendered terrific results. However, since "you never know till you go", meant observing this rather unique event. The red line in the sky was occurring at the sunset hour and reflecting off the Thompson River. A short walk and I was in an ideal spot to catch this isolated event.
