I was on my way to pick up a friend to set up for the Kim Richey gig that Biddulph Up In Arms was putting on - there were no parking places in her street so I decided to go round the block to see if anyone might move. Turned the corner and there was a builder's lorry parked on the pavement. As I was slowly overtaking there was an almighty bang and my window shattered. Turns out one of the builders had been throwing heavy building rubble into the lorry and missed - hitting my car, smashing the passenger side window and damaging every single panel on the passenger side. Insurance will cover the repair, but I have to pay £350 excess - and get a strike on my no-claims (it wasn't a road traffic accident, so it came under 3rd party rules) - however, I have supplied the details of the builder who was responsible for the damage to my insurance company and their assessor will try to see if there is a strong enough case to make him pay.
The gig went ahead and went some way to alleviating the crappiness of the day. I wasn't injured, but somewhat shocked for a while after.
The car is currently with the repair company and I'm getting a courtesy car tomorrow.

What:
Old Antique 1949 Chev
Where:
Somewhere along the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada
When:
Last weekend, Dec.14,2008
About the shot:
I met up with Sadegh and Terry Sunday morning to take a drive along the south shore to do a little bit of shooting. The weather and lighting condition weren't great for photos really but it was good to get out with a couple of the guys from the photoclub and figured we could scout a few spots for future outings. Well eagle-eyed Terry spotted an old car next to a farmhouse so of course we stopped to check it out.
While we we're shooting the cars (this isn't the one visible from the road, it was in the back yard) the neighbor came over and chatted we us for a while. He told us that the fella drove this up until last year when his passed away. Sad really. It made me think that they may have had this car when they we newly-weds almost 60 years ago. Imagine the places they must have been to during the years driving along in this old Chevy.
What I learned:
When you plan to go shoot something in particular keeps your eyes open and camera ready because often the best shots aren't the ones you originally planned to take.
