This bus was new to Lothian Buses as 485 in 2017.
Seen here on Sleigh Drive.
A 42 runs to Juke Street from Marine garage to take up a X26 at London Road during peak times.
The 42 is back on it's old stomping ground again from back when the 42 was a circular route, even if it's just a short working during peak times

Exiting the building where my class was held today, a fellow student engaged me in reflecting on the class and how did I like it. As I was answering, I noticed this man with two other friends – all looking like they were living on the street. This man was just organizing his shopping cart which carried his belongings and they were starting down the street. Not wanting to miss the chance to meet this interesting-looking young man, I interrupted the conversation with my classmate somewhat abruptly to hurry down the street to catch up with my potential Stranger. I will explain and apologize to my classmate at class next week.
I introduced myself and the project and my request was granted. We shook hands and I had met Tanner (whose street name is Chuckles the Clown). His friends said for us to go ahead and do the photos and they would wait down the street for him. I told Tanner that the doorway of the university building where I was standing when I first saw him had good light and walked him and his cart to that nearby location. The doorway was recessed with brushed aluminum panels creating a nice, diffuse light. I asked Tanner to sit on the ledge but scoot forward to separate himself from the metal panel just a bit and proceeded to take the photos as he explained that he is from Lindsay Ontario, a small city east of Toronto.
Tanner ("Chuckles") is 35. When I asked, he said he is currently living on the street and he did have a sleeping bag visible in his cart. He seemed bright and articulate and his manner had a direct friendliness. He indicated that his home town held little for someone like him, hence his migrating to Toronto. When I asked about the pendant he was wearing and the skull decorations hanging from his headgear, he explained he is a fan of a band and a recording company headquartered in Detroit and these are symbols used by them. It is an independent recording company and does not produce the kind of music that is meant for family listening. Tanner came across as very direct and is clearly "street smart" but he was quite willing to entertain this chat with a man much different in age and clearly from a different experience.
When I asked Tanner if he had any message for me to share with my fellow project photographers he said “You do you; Let me do me.” Simple and direct. Although Tanner never asked for money, I could see he could use a decent meal and offered to make a contribution. I explained “Just to be clear, I’m not paying for photographing you (this is an amateur project) but it’s a donation to give you a hand because I can see you could use it.” He said “I understand, man, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. This is going to be my emergency fund for food and it means a lot to me.”
Just then Tanner’s friends came back and asked for the use of a pen which I loaned to them. I explained we were just finished with the project photos and I thanked them for their patience and thanked Tanner for letting me meet him and photograph him for my project.
Thanks again Tanner for your participation in 100 Strangers. You are now Stranger #485 in Round 5 of my project. I hope life gets easier for you in the future.
Additional Note: I have seen Tanner several times since this encounter because he frequents the street scene downtown. We exchange friendly greetings and he usually shares his most recent experiences on the streets of Toronto, few of which are very pleasant. Recently he told me that a storefront where he has been sleeping has now been rented out and he's having to scuffle for other "accommodations."
