So here looking brilliant in the Autumn sun is Lothian Buses penguin bus 485 on Atholl Crescent while doing the normal service 26 to Seton Sands.

The troubled department store chain House of Fraser is to close one of its Edinburgh stores, affecting 127 jobs. The closure was announced in June 2018 as the retailer unveiled plans to shut thirty one stores across the UK as part of restructuring plans. The store on Edinburgh's West End, built in 1935 as Binns, will close in early 2019.

With a huge sigh of relief to everyone in Edinburgh the world-famous Jenners, also owned by Frasers, is unaffected - it's true to say that Edinburgh without Jenners would be like London without Harrods.

This is the first of several photos and stories about the legendary store called Binns, on the corner of Hope Street and Princes Street.
