APLICAÇÃO DE TECIDO XADREZ BORDADO - PANO DE PRATO

Taken for Active Assignment Weekly ~ "Like a Painting" ~ Jan 9-16, 2012

ie. For this assignment I'd like you to post photos that remind of painting: it maybe the reenactment of a painting, it may be the post process that gives the feeling of a painting, it may be the choice of the subject and light. Anything goes as long as one is reminded of painting by looking at it.

Dare: start from a real painting and make the inspiration clear in your photo.

Restrictions: no BW.

This was inspired by Jackson Pollack who I find very interesting. Taken with 50mm lens with the shutter speed set to 3.2sec. I set up some Christmas lights on a table, kind of haphazardly. I set the slow shutter speed, and moved the camera around the stationary lights, moving it also closer and further away from the lights to achieve some depth. No post editing was done. Also titled it as an homage to Pollack who numbered his works, and also, I took about 40+ pics to try and find one I liked, and that paid tribute to Pollack.

Gaby Fuego's Birthday Bash

It was a clear night with lots of stars so thought I'd have a quick go at my first attempt of a star trail photo.

This was 10 x 15 second exposures which were combined in Photoshops using the statistics script set to Maximum.

Certainly need more exposures to begin with and then think of composition too....

97 Laundromat - I loved the positioning of the red shopping cart underneath the red sign. After I took this, the owner came out and took a picture of *me* with his Blackberry...must think I'm a spy or something!

A sequence of a beautiful ocean sunset, viewed from Marina State Beach in Marina, CA! It's been a while since I've seen the sun's disk actually breach the ocean horizon.

It was that special time again when I made a road trip to the beach. This time, I went south to Marina State Beach in Marina, CA. I've always been going up north to S.F. and I miss going south towards Monterey. Since gas was cheap and there was no coastal fog or clouds hugging the coastline, I was encouraged to make this trip... a trip to see a clear sunset by the sea! It's been a while since I've seen the sun itself actually clearly touch the ocean horizon.

The weather was pleasant and there was hardly any wind. There were big waves, however! Apparently, I have came during the 'king tide'. The king tides occur when the earth, moon and sun are aligned at perigee and perihelion, resulting in the largest tidal range seen over the course of a year.

After taking in the views and snapping pics, I then enjoyed the climax of the trip...a sunset by the sea! After the sunset, I was about to leave (I even turned on my car). However, I saw the moon and Venus up above over the dusk skies, so why not stay for some astronomy shots, too! So I went back out and I managed to capture an alignment of the moon, Mars and Venus (which I also forgot about)! The heavenly alignment above the Monterey Peninsula below was a dazzling sight... It was a great day...

I had a large palm tree removed earlier in the year and I have planted some pansies on top of the trunk!
