CPR w.b. T/COFC First #405 arrives to take siding behind two SD40-2, B&O GP40-2, GP35 (6035….) Hidden from view on my left is the head brakeman from #404 with the east siding switch lined into the siding. I recall seeing this guy come screaming around that curve as if he was going through, but I've no doubt the engineers on the Maple Creek Subdivision are well versed in the use and timing of those air brakes, and the art of the "passenger train stop" was familiar to them!
Still sufficiently plentiful that I wouldn't have bothered with a photo if it weren't for the local registration. Only just noticed the odd wheeltrims.
Saw a couple on the back of a truck heading to a scrapyard only a day or two ago.
405s are pretty durable but getting less common with each passing year and this one has since been taken off the road and SORNed. By the time this example was built, the 405 saloon had already been discontinued to make way for the 406 but the estate continued for another couple of years.

Turbo diesel, normally pretty rare in Australia but there were about 3 or 4 parked around this block, though it was cheating as there is a Peugeot repair shop nearby.
I had seen this red 405 since months near to this Peugeot garage, 5 minutes away from home. It seemed particularly interesting because of the fog lights and the spoiler.
Today, I finally pulled over and wasn't disappointed. I looked at the rear wheel hub: It must be a 4x4! And yes, it was! Even a Mi16x4!
I definitely also like this interior very much!
The last motorway "vignette" is from 2006.
– – – UPDATE (22.04.2015) – – –
I was lucky! I've taken these pics on Saturday, 18.04.2015.
This Monday, 20.04.2015, the 405 had disappeared. It had been parked there for months (without ever moving, I'd say).
405 was formerly owned by the Limestone Coast Railway in Mt. Gambier, and was trucked to Strathalbyn overnight before being transferred to Mt. Barker for restoration.
