This morning I jumped the train and headed to Newtown in Sydney to meet a group of diehard Stranger hunters for the Sydney 100Strangers meet. We weaved our way up and down King Street and where King met Australia Street in a little Mall created to aid traffic flow I spied Kate. I knew I had to make her part of my 100 Strangers Project. Details of which can be found on the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page.
Initially we chatted about the horrible weather and she asked me about the camera I was wearing like a necklace. I told her about the project and asked her if she would like to be my stranger number 39. I took three shots. I prefer to take just one because it makes it so much easier for me to decide which I prefer. As I couldn't decide I uploaded my first shot.
Kate was in the Mall today converting a few possessions into cash as she has won a place at Uni....in Melbourne and was packing up to move. She will be commencing her BA in the next few weeks. I asked if she would be majoring in Photography, but no, Philosophy. Kate was pretty excited. She has her now accommodation sorted, a place a uni and new friends already made.... she was itching to get on her way.
Kate I wish you well for your new life in Melbourne and thank you for being my stranger No. 39.
Today, unfortunately, my trusty 15-85 was sold to make way for a 17-40 L. If only it worked on full frame. Farewell, old friend.
:(
Pasilla - Another chili my husband uses quite a bit in his sauces. A true pasilla is the dried form of the long and narrow chilaca pepper. These are a bit hot not too bad. They have a wonderful smokey, deep rich flavor and a fabulous fragrance!

I came upon a stranger
in a clearing in the woods
we shared a passing moment
our lives briefly intertwined
how can something so simple as
watching nature grow
keep two people standing still
and make time disappear?
Hey :)
So this is the picture I took earlier today (the same time as the tree picture).
I had such a nice walk, it made me feel so so good. As I was walking along this boardwalk path I came to some denser woods and they opened up into a kind of a clearing (still lots of trees but very few small trees... if you know what i mean). I saw a guy standing a fair bit in front of me and he was just standing very still staring off at something. So I looked and there was a deer. Not just one deer though I saw two little ones as well! The guy noticed me but then looked back at the deer. The woods were so silent and peaceful. I sat down and watched them eat for at least half an hour. Anytime either of us would move, the mother would stare at us with her big ears raised as if to chastise.
Really and truly an amazing experience, to be so close to nature and to somehow share that experience with a total stranger. It gets me thinking of all those brief interactions that happen everyday. Bumping into somebody and saying excuse me or talking to somebody waiting in line with you. Have you met them before? Will you meet again? Was it a random event or was it destined to happen?
Just something to think about it :)
Now I am going to sleep ZZZzzzzzz!
i didn't sleep all day.
but i had an amazing meal.
and i'm kind of lying, i've been taking small naps during babysitting. not babies, so it's okay.
#009 /100 - Bradd Dalziell
This picture is #009 in my 100 Strangers project.
Bradd Dalziell is an Australian rules footballer for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was initially drafted to the Brisbane Lions with selection 52 of 2007 AFL National Draft from the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League.
He was traded to the West Coast Eagles for Brent Staker and West Coast's third round draft pick (#39 overall) at the end of the 2009 season. The deal also saw Sydney's Amon Buchanan move to the Brisbane Lions and Eagle Mark Seaby move to the Swans. Brad was delisted by West Coast at the end of the 2013 AFL season and he returned to his original WAFL team, East Fremantle, where he is currently in stellar form.
