We started for home yesterday and stopped at the Badlands. So gorgeous. Spent most of the day driving the loop and looking at the most gorgeous landscape. Got a nice picture of Dave and Maggie.

52 Weeks of Dogs
Milecastle 39 on Hadrian's Wall located northeast of Once Brewed. The excavated stonework has been consolidated, and the walls are up to 1.75 metres high. It measures 19 metres by 15.5 metres.
Excavations indicated that the milecastle may have been occupied until the late 4th century. In the 18th century a possible milking house was built in the west corner.

Milecastle 39, Hadrians Wall, Northumberland, UK
For the aficionados amongst you I hope you recognise the title from the same Monty Python sketch😁
This was a slightly earlier shot of the same Milecastle in Hadrians Wall as my last post. Took this from a different angle to get a different foreground. The sun being higher meant the Milecastle was illuminated. Not the most comfortable of perches for me to get this composition and was continually worried my camera bag was going to go rolling down the slope! Luckily it didnt!

As this fall semester starts it's my 39th year as an academic, 29th year at Arizona State University. This year will be particularly challenging given the state of AI. There's a lot of fundamental rethinking of the role of college education. ASU has fully embraced AI, being the first university to provide ChatGPT licenses to all students. Most of my students are freaking out about AI taking their job opportunities away. It will be a rocky road.
