One of my favourite class 37's, 37049 'Imperial' at the south end of Mossend Yard on 27th June 1989, on this date it was added to the front of the MGR and Iron Ore trains from the yard to Ravenscraig which were triple headed up the gradient. This loco was the only Coal Sector liveried split headcode class 37 as far as I am aware. The next time I saw it a couple of years later it was in Departmental Dutch livery. K252

Newly repainted 37049 at York having just taken over "The Whitby Venturer", 06:38 Duxford (Ciba Geigy sidings) to Whitby - 16/06/1984.
37049 is believed to have worked the return 17:10 Whitby to (Duxford Ciba Geigy Sidings) between Grosmont & York.
The special working is believed to have been to commemorate fifty years of Ciba-Geigy production at Duxford.

37425 joins the Bury St Edmunds Ipswich branch at Ely dock junction with the Stowmarket to Stowmarket via Cromer RHTT. After a period of full sun the clouds came across and put the Cathedral into shadow.

AJS37 Viggen 37049/16-39 used as a crash rescue demo exhibit at the Uppsala Open Day in August 2001.
The afternoon of Tuesday 11th August 1981 found me in King's Lynn on my Anglian Rover admiring a spick & span 37116 basking in the sun with the 1L22 1436 from LIverpool Street on which I'd just scored the track from Ely. A very lucrative day for me, having not only scored 37089 seen in the previous frame, but also 37049 & later when I returned to Cambridge vacuum-only 37017 would go in the book. Stratford & to a slightly lesser extent March always seemed to take a pride in their loco's appearances, 37116 being a fine example & many years later became the last of it's class to retain the stylish buffer skirting.

Class 37 049 "Imperial" departs from the Bescot South end of Bescot Down Receptions on the 16.10 6T55 Bescot to Soho EMU/DMU depot trip, the load is two loaded TTA tanks conveying Diesel fuel. Over in the South end can be seen various Engineers/Departmental wagons in "Dutch" livery. 22nd April 1991.

37049 passed Goldthorpe at 1244 on May 13th 1993 with 8E85, the 1015 Civil Engineer's service Cliffe Hill Quarry to Healey Mills Yard, which was formed of 28 vacuum braked Dogfish (ZFV) wagons, loaded with new ballast for weekend Engineering Work.

31226, 37049 & 37173 are gathered at King's Lynn stabling point on Monday 17th August 1981-the two 37s giving a good comparison of the recently introduced buffer beam skirting modification. This yard is immediately north of the station & parallel to it with the soon to be demolished GE goods shed in the left background. I have around 25 minutes left before returning south behind 37060 on the 1L31 1330 to Liverpool Street, the houses seen between the two 37 noses are on Littleport Terrace & the trees are very much the same 33 years later. Thanks to Stu Billing for identifying the 31 from the works plate number as I omitted to record it at the time.
Never before seen personally are Stagecoach buses in Guildhall Rd Northampton,,,this was because roadworks in front of the town hall were causing diverts....Dec 10 2015.

They had been specially rostered to work the 13.18 to Leeds, piloting 47475, one of a series of specials organised by Regional Railways over the S&C between Christmas and New Year.
The northbound working (09.47 ex Leeds) was 56109, with 47475 providing train heat.
Other days had seen 37071+37083, 37049+37095, 60021, 60022, 56117, and 56134 haul these trains.
