37/52: Laughing Delphis
December 9 - December 15
Here's Stella! The most beautiful dolphin you could imagine.... she's just a pup still; only 4 months old but with a personality that just couldn't be beat.
So lucky to have met her.
37 114 passing the former station at Watten (between Georgemas Junction and Wick) with the Wick portion of the 11:10 SuO Wick/Thurso to Inverness on 3 July 1983. Regrettably I used grainy Agfa ISO100 slide film at times but thought this shot of a 37 with two mk1s on a rarely photographed section of line worth scanning and posting.
I went to see Royal Scot but just as she got to the crossing the driver opened her drain cocks, you couldn't even see the top of the smokebox, luckily this was on the rear.
English Electric Type 3 Class 37 Co-Co diesel locomotive 37405 as operated by Direct Rail Services just after working the top and tailed 2C63 14:55 (15:23 1E) Abellio Greater Anglia Great Yarmouth- Norwich short set service at Norwich Station at the end of the Great Eastern Main Line in Norfolk (UK).
37405 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry Newton le Willows and entered service as D6982 on May 13th 1965.
An extremely rare example of a 50+ year old first generation diesel locomotive hauled (or pushed!) service train.

Stranger #37 – Anna – I met her in the centre of Wroclaw, Poland. She was very nice and agreed to have her photo taken after I explained the project and told her where I publish my pictures. I also assured her that I’m quite good at it. Actually I said something like “very good” (modesty has never been my virtue…). Anyway, I took a few shots in one of my favorite places. That was a very nice encounter :)
This picture is #37 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
