Though I believe the adage - never explain yourself, your friends won't care and your enemies won't believe you - is pretty well on the mark, I think an explanation is in order. I am out of town this weeked, and as such will not be able to take a picture of my beloved tree. I thought of several possibilities - cheating and posting a pic I took another day, drawing, do some sort of photo manip of an existing picture, do a collage, I decided to post a pic of "my tree" as it it is in the virtual world Second Life - the tree in sl was a gift from a dear friend- and of course, being out of town and in the interest of time, included "me" in it so it passes for my self portrait as well. As Rene Magrite said "c'est n-est-ce pas un pipe". None of my other pictures are the tree either just a representation, so, I post this with a clear conscience and a wink...

Oops. I totally missed a picture - this one actually taken on the 3rd... It's a bit of a cheat, but it will have to do... cause I'm not dropping out. Oh no. I'll be catching up on uploads as soon as possible; life happened, and though I'm still taking my pictures, I just had no time to spend on the computer. I also have quite a creative blockage where I'm just not satisfied with what I got... and I'll work it out.
More to come.

The last day of the project...
365 days and a few more than 365 photos...
For the last photo, I thought it would be good to post the top 3 questions I've been asked about the project this year along with their answers:
1. Is it hard to come up with a photo every single day?
Yes, there were days that were definitely harder than others. Just ask William...there were many days when I said to him, "what am I going to take a picture of today?" But, that was part of the challenge. As I'm sure you've noticed, some of the photos weren't the most awesome as far as photographic merit, but they had a good story. So, frankly, sometimes, it was more about the story.
2. Are you going to get the photos printed in a book?
That is the plan! I would like to have the stories printed too (or at least a "Reader's Digest" version of some of the stories). I think I have found a good resource to do this, but knowing me, it will take all of 2014 before I get it done :)
3. Are you going to keep doing the project in 2014?
As the year has drawn to an end, this has become the most frequently asked question I've gotten. There are so many of you who have told me how much you've loved seeing the photos and reading the stories each day, and you will never know how much I appreciate that! Your likes, comments, and favorites throughout the year have kept me going with the project. Originally, I set out on this project both as a personal challenge and as a way of documenting/appreciating where all of my work travels have taken me. I had no idea that it would be so well-loved and well-received. All of that being said, I am planning something with a similar feel but a little different for 2014. Those who know me well know that I like to always have a new challenge. One thing I'd like to do more is blog. So, for 2014, instead of doing a "picture of the day," I'm going to do a "blog of the week." Every week, there will be a new blog post (52 total for the year). I already have about 15 blog posts planned, including some tutorials and other fun things. Naturally, as part of the blogging process, there will be pictures, and of course, I'll continue to post pictures here - just maybe not every day. For reference, here's where you can find my blog (severely neglected and being redesigned as I write this). I hope that you'll enjoy this project just as much, and thank you again for all of your support this year!!

New year, and time to re-focus...these are, of course, my gym shoes. It's been a few months since I've been able to meet with my trainer because of all of the work travel, but I finally did today. And, you know what? I really have missed it! She pushes me, but she does it in such a positive way. Really, she coaches me because she helps me work through times when it's more difficult, and best of all, she's reasonable. She comes up with creative ways for me to stay active, even with my crazy schedule. Today was no exception....she gave me a list of excercises to do, where I just use my own body weight instead of free weights or machines. That sure does make it easy to do in a hotel room or really anywhere. I really need to take some more time this year to just focus on myself and my health and less on work. My goal is to get a workout in a few times a week...whatever I can do, the best I can do. I'm certainly worth that little 1/2 hr-45 min of time.
