When I played Sherlock (long before I read the entire book). One day when we had zoology prac4icals I took this box to the class and on returning home I couldn't find it and panicked because how wiuld I do practicals without the box? I could remeber that I had kept the box on the front desk in the class and remembered that we had a session identifying the parts of ear with a model in the class and that model was kept on that desk. So if the box had gone anywhere it would be under the model. Next day I went to the lab, lifted up the ear model which was still on the desk and viola there my dissection box was, perfectly under the rectangular base of the model. :)
It gets dark so early these days, it's a challenge to get a shot in sometimes! But the golden light makes it all worth it.
Day 167 of 365.
In the summer, the canopy of this tree holds what sounds like a thousand finches. You can't see them, but you can hear them move and sing and fly around.
And you can see their poop all over the sidewalk.
So this is a picture of a tree and lots of hidden birds.
This is my day 4 for the Nature Photo challenge.
The idea is for each nominee to post a nature photo every day for 7 days, nominating a new person each day to do the same. In this spirit, I'm nominating May Lynne Gill to do the Nature Challenge.

learned the (likely) origin of the phrase "the big apple" today so that's cool... aaand the city was pretty cool too :)

Our family helped put together Thanksgiving food boxes at Sacred Heart Community Services in San Jose. All told, our morning shift made 4,000 boxes for families.
Our friend, Poncho Guevara, Sacred Heart's executive director, is an inspiration. The amount of good that the community at Sacred Heart does is staggering. Over 70,000 food donations, toys for the holidays, backpacks for school, employment assistance, home weatherization, and housing assistance.

Goose Island is a Chicago Brew house that makes a ton of quality beers. My personal favorite is the 312... which is a wheat beer that is really nice. If you get the chance give it a shot. Now that I think of it I should have done this on day 312... but here is to you on 253... thanks bg

One more note - this is my first real shot with the Onone software remote trigger for the iPhone. Basic setup is connect your camera to your laptop that is on a WIFI network. Fire up the onone server software (Free), start the Onone iPhone app ($19.99 on itunes). Full control of the camera from the iPhone. If you go liveview you can see the live image in the iphone before you trip the shutter. Really going to be good for SP's. This is where "the magic happens".
From this chair I do all my photo editing (mainly weddings), and spent a lot of time here during the early hours of the morning last year.

This one today was taken on the way back home from work (yesterday's was taken on the way to work). One of these days I wish I could take photos at work.
This old barn - I don't think it's inhabited anymore - faces northwest and I think it gets really soft slanted winter sunset light (on the rare winter days where you get to experience a sunset in Portland).
