A bowl.
Controls on the 310 are a bit icky. Definitely not for the peeps who need zero-second response time. The interface is a bit laggy, especially because of the preview modes on exposure compensation and white balance options, which freeze the action for a second or so. On top of that, the zoom rocker is stiff and the nail on it has a nasty tendency to dig in to your finger. The thumb rocker is also rather stiff, and trying to force your pushes in, it sometimes skips the option you were going for.
Addendum; viewing images on-camera sometimes gets you stuck on certain picture. You can zoom in and out of it, but not move to other pictures, or use any other buttons to escape it. Pressing shutter takes you back to shooting mode, but the camera forgets in which picture you were and resets to the most recent.
Another possibly dangerous design fault in VR-310 is the on-board deletion. Instead of simply pressing trashcan on the thumb rocker for each picture you want to delete, the deletion mode stays on and automatically moves to the next picture. It certainly makes deleting more images faster, but usually I find it useless, and for an unattentive user, it can cost pictures.
//Update: I no longer have the VR-310. In a nutshell, it's a fine camera for everyday, travel or vacation shooting, but lacks many controls required for more advanced photography. The build is solid, and it's easy to use. The biggest flaws are the placement of the flash, and a bit clunky macro-system.
Dahlia + flare (I actually bought this flower, I want to get my money's worth of photos out of it! :P)

Bom dia, meninas!
Passei:
1 camada da base Fortalex, da 5Cinco
2 camadas do Beach.
Bom domingo e beijos.
today Nyla saw her first dandelion. She also pulled, blew, licked, and threw her first dandelion. She enjoyed it. I enjoyed shooting it.
My teddy, taking a sweet siesta.
Speaking of which, rather annoying "function" in the 310 is the forced cropping mode for smaller image resolutions, which you can accidentally use when zooming. That is, if you don't use all the 14 megapixels, the camera forces the digital zoom on, even if you disable it. And to make it even more confusing, it's not digital zoom but "supertele"!
