I will have my ears open for voices of America…especially voices of the other America that lives off the beaten path. People who have changed their lives to live by choice. People who know that all power comes from within, not from the corporate world or Bush-America. People who are having fun because they do what they want to do. People who want to share their story.
Coming from Denmark and being with an American man I am very interested in cultural meetings and differences. I live them every day. I am also interested in telling Denmark & the rest of the world that America has many faces and voices. Because there is an official voice – that of the superpower - that is very loud out there, you know.
My story will include the voice of myself and the voices of Americans I meet along the way. I will bring my tape recorder and my notebook to capture the road trip in sound and words – plus paintings and photos by hialoakapua.
We will send a scout out ahead to sniff out tea shops and any Flickr friends along the way that would like to have a good cup of tea and meet each other.... the TT will actually be going from tea shop to tea shop on this 5,000 miles journey... a special "talking stick" will be coming along for sharing in the tea circles ...

This 9' x 13' stained glass mosaic by last year's Second Place Winner Mia Tavonatti, hangs at the front entrance of the DeVos Place. It is made entirely of hand cut stained glass.
