Vermont Railway train 263 is grinding eastward on the Green Mountain Railroad's Bellows Falls Subdivision on a damp cloudy late fall morning. They are in a colorful tree tunnel approaching the Town Hill Road crossing near MP 42.6 on this historic former Rutland mainline which opened between Bellows Falls and Burlington in 1849.
In the lead is SD70M-2 431 built in December 2006 for the Florida East Coast, and one of only two six axle units on the roster. She is trailed by three geeps (GMTX 2215, CLP 204, VTR 207) and thirty cars destined for Riverside Yard in Rockingham. The train is working hard and is in the process of climbing nearly 1000 ft in the 18 mile stretch from Rutland until they reach the crest of the Green Mountains at 1518 ft nearly aptly named Summit Station.

This is right before the sun popped....I was back on the road driving when the sun came up...it was brilliant, oh well.
GMTX GP38-2 2674 leads Vermont Railways train 263 east on the Green Mountain approaching Route 103 in Shrewsbury, VT.
Just a simple little shot of Vermont Railway train 263 slowing as they pull down for a stop beside the Chester depot (right behind me) for the crew to grab lunch. Blue and white VTR 210 (a rebuilt GP38-2 purchased from GATX that was originally blt. Oct. 1971 as Baltimore and Ohio GP40 4034) leads the train here at MP B13.5 on the Green Mountain Railroad's Bellows Falls Subdivision (ex Rutland). Trailing are world famous SD70M-2 431 and dead in tow is GP38-3 VTR 207 which is headed to the North Walpole paint booth for fresh red VRS paint. But don't worry, 210 is on the list for red paint soon too!

Number 263 of my 365 photo challenge - A longish exposure, stitched panorama, landscape image of the falls at Rumbling Bridge near Dunkeld in Perthshire, Scotland.
Hyperfocal distance is hard at this focal length so the foreground isn't quite as sharp as I would have liked it.
Did you know the sunflower is not a flower at all? It is an inflorescence, each petal is actually a flower on its own.

Sh2-263, popularly known as the Raspberry Nebula or Strawberry Nebula, is a colorful, yet faint, nebula complex located approximately 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Orion. It is composed of a glowing red Hydrogen-alpha emission nebula energized and illuminated by a nearby massive blue-white star.
Parts of the local molecular cloud remain unilluminated, appearing as a dark, dusty nebula (cataloged as LDN 1588 or Barnard 223) that obscures background stars.

After arriving at Rutland and seeing a rainbow of GP38-2s and one of the VRS' two SD70M-2s, it was a small consolation that the SD70 would be leading, even if it's not painted either. Due to the fact that there's pretty much no room in what's left of the Rutland yard, the VRS constructed a long siding outside Rutland to hold cars, primarily the unit slurry train for Pan Am right now, and 264 during the week. GMRC 263 is about to crossover to the main, and head out of town, with sixty-three loads trailing. With it's sister unit being painted, hopefully it won't be long before the 432 gets its turn.

There's no online record of an MoT back to 2005. The only paperwork with the car is an old style blue V5."

Dne 28.5.2022 jsem si udělal takovou okružní jízdu ze Starého Města u Uherského Hradiště na Sp 1783 Radhošť do Hulína, poté na páru do Kroměříže a měl jsem ještě celé odpoledne a nevěděl jsem, kam dál. Nakonec vyhrálo Brno, jelikož jsem měl příležitost jet část trasy Bouzovem. Přijedu do Brna a počasí nic moc. Jdu na flek, spadne na mě pár kapek. Oblačnost se potom poměrně rozpustila a okolo slunka mráček v nedohlednu. Říkal jsem si, že by to mohlo vyjít a taky že vyšlo. Na fotce je zachycená brněnská princezna 263.002 "Dáša" v čele odpoledního Os 4615. Fotka je pořízena v úseku Brno-Řečkovice - Brno-Královo Pole.
