The Birdcage was raced by Gaston "Gus" Andrey, a Swiss born garage owner living in the States. He had a dealership in or near Boston.
He raced this Tipo 61 in the 1960 SCCA (National Sports Cars Championship) and one race in 1961, always with #25.
Thanks, Chris!
When Ahmed spoke to me, I was balanced over a tidepool & photographing the splash of a large wave in front of us (see photo below) He observed the scene I was shooting and spoke about his love of photography.
Well...since I'd come to Botanical Beach that day with my Photography Meetup Group, I assumed he was a fellow group member and not a 'stranger' in the normal sense of the word. As such, I spoke to him as a colleague instead of a total stranger - meaning I was especially casual & open with my conversation, sharing while I continued to shoot waves. We spoke about cameras, shooting images for local newspapers, his work in Geology at the University and other shared interests. When I asked to snap his portrait, he was happy to oblige & gave me this big smile.
When my three companions joined us, he got along quite well with them as well. In fact, we spent the remainder of our time on the beach walking & talking (see photo below) Admitedly, I mostly went back to shooting off by myself, while Ahmed enjoyed our company.
On the car ride home, I realized what I had taken. This portrait, and our encounter, allows me to reflect on the 'nature of strangers' and had to be included in my 100 strangers project (#25) Thanks Ahmed.

This image is inspired by the fact that my phone decided to hate me and cause all of my applications to crash when I tried to open them. Don't shed too many tears for me though, I already repaired it with a good old-fashioned restore.

This hedge is on the north side of the gardens at Powys Castle, as seen from the terrace.
It is my offering for a picture inspired by another picture in the 113 group.
As soon as I saw the hedge I new it was a match for the shot by Theresa (Ash Tree 25) (Thanks for the inspiriation)
Have added a link to the original below, just at the moment I can't get the HTML to give me the actual image (Theresa, any chance you could paste the original ? ;-} )

On our deck.
Yesterday I let my Pro account lapse. This means my first 5000 photos are no longer visible and I'm subject to the upload limits of a free account. Flickr just doesn't seem the same to me so I don't post or comment as often. When I do post I don't get much play so it seemed a good time to save $25. Thanks to all of my long time Flickr friends for all the comments over the years.
Just couldn't a clean shot without any grass obstructing the subject :(
This was photographed in 'marshy' spot just next to the road.
Early rain the morning added to a nice fresh morning feeling.
