I'm back at the railroad tracks I talked about in my last photo, no.20, with the stop sign. Remember I said that about 100 meters past the stop sign the tracks ended? Well, here it is! From this point behind Dad the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail goes for 72km all the way to the Quebec border.
This end of the Trail is only 4km from our house, and Dad says maybe one day we'll walk all the way to the other end! Is he nuts? He'll never keep up with me!
A Soviet motor built to emulate the American cars of the 1950's, the GAZ-21 was actually fitted with many endearing features as opposed to their Western counterparts. The cars for starters had a high ground clearance, rugged suspension, an engine that would go forever and rustproofing the likes of which had never been seen before.
As such, it was the biggest and most luxury car available to the proletariat, and sold in high quantities for those who could actually afford it.
I guess for the rest of them there was always walking...

Peter and I were walking past the shop in this picture when I saw Sarah inside cleaning a window. Earlier we'd been discussing the fact that we'd never gone so far as to drag someone out right out of a shop to photograph like some of our antipodean cousins tend to do. I loved Sarah's style and through the shop window would make an interesting, if busy, background. So I knocked on the door and gave her the pitch.
Now I know it looks like I've gone diptych mad but the fact is that while I'm really enjoying getting more of the person into the pictures, I still love the close face shots so I'm trying to get the best of both worlds. In this case I think it works, I hope you agree.

I visited Oregon this past week for a family wedding and family vacation. It was absolutely gorgeous there when the weather was clear. I would have uploaded a picture of the amazing coastline we stayed on, but this is much better in the composition area. There were more flowers and green things than I've ever seen, and the air smelled so clean and fresh. If only I could tolerate constant gray skies and miserable winters I might move there some day!
I won't be uploading the next 2 or 3 weeks.
I'll be at camp and then I finally get to be with my love.
Finally. <3
