day 21.
Give me the faith to believe in these hard times.
Give me something brighter
Give me something I can see
Give me something vicious
Give me something I can be
Give me all the love and peace
To end these wars
Give me something sacred,
Something worth fighting for.
It's clear enough to me
The ugliness I see
Is evidence of who I need.
Give me an answer
Give me a way out
Give me the faith
To believe in these hard times.
Give me motivation
Give me all my heart's desires
Show me something gorgeous
Show me 'til my eyes get tired
Give me all the drums and
Show me how to play them loud
Show me how to move,
When I can't feel that you're around.
We hide like thieves in shadows
Scared of the sun;
We know the light will find us
Us an all we've done.
I skipped a couple of days. But that's okay. Because I'm only doing it to motivate myself to take more pictures. And it's working. So no worries. :)
Although I did shoot some film on the days I missed, so I guess technically I haven't failed.
I hit 3,000 views a few days ago, thanks guys :)

I'm playing a blonde again! There's just something about the golden textures that Nova of Little Bones creates that makes me want to switch over permanently. I'm wearing one of the two styles she has out at the No. 21 event, this one called Vapor.
With the texture change hat (over 20+ to choose from), it inspired a throwback kind of look.

Dear Parlee family members and close friends.
I was deeply saddened to hear about your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
Here are few of my remembrances of Arnold:
Back in the 70s Arnold was well known at Victoria Airport CYYJ. Rumors were as an airline pilot he once flew B747s. This is unconfirmed to me but he sure knew a lot about airplanes and flying.
Arnold was my first flight instructor when going for my private pilot licence in 1978 at Flight Centre Aviation FBO at CYYJ. He was a bit of a task-master in his teaching methods but perhaps wanted to see right away if a student had the 'right stuff". Not everyone can be taught to fly airplanes; one has to bring something of themselves to complete the mission.
This flier passed the test and went on to own two airplanes before hanging it up in 1985. Firstly, was a Piper Cherokee PA28-160 then the Mooney M20e Super 21.
Sometime around 1990, my employer wanted me to go to the Ellehammer Industries site in Tumwater, WA to checkout a client's job site. He hired Arnold to fly me there. Arnold was to borrow Bent Reinecker's Beechcraft Model 76 Duchess but when Arnold flashed up the twin-engines in the hangar he heard something he didn't like.
He surmised the left engine had a cracked cylinder wall. Bent later confirmed this was the case. We then went over and rented a C172 from the Victoria Flying Club. Arnold got us to KOLM in Tumwater and safely back to CYYJ.
It was well known, Arnold knew a thing-or-two about airplanes!
It turns out Arnold was only 20 days younger than me so I'm aware my time on Earth is also running out. We hope to see Arnold again in Paradise where we'll live forever — throughout Eternity. RIP
Bill
High Flight
BY JOHN GILLESPIE MAGEE JR.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds,--and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of--wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air ....

With only a month until the S22 schedule comes to a close and as Delta prepares for the upcoming W22 schedule, the carrier has all but confirmed their flights for the upcoming winter period, however unsurprisingly for many carriers they are in process of preparing for the S23 schedule commencing from late-March 2023.
Indeed, Delta already made preliminary changes for the S23 schedule but very recently, the carrier has been making further changes to their long-haul schedule, notably the introduction and re-introduction of brand new routes as air travel continues to recover.
For the S23 schedule, Delta will be ramping up their schedule into London Heathrow effective from 25th March 2023 unless otherwise stated which are as follows:
-Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta: Continues to operate twice-daily; DL30/31 and DL32/33 utilising Boeing 767-400ERs.
-Boston-Logan: Continues to operate daily; DL58/59 utilising Boeing 767-400ERs.
-Detroit-Metropolitan Wayne County: Continues to operate twice-daily; DL16/17 and DL18/19 utilising Airbus A330-200s.
-Los Angeles: Newly reintroduced after being cancelled from September 2015; will operate daily utilising Airbus A330-900s (DL186/187).
-Minneapolis-St. Paul: Continues to operate daily; DL10/11 utilising Airbus A330-200s replacing Boeing 767-400ERs.
-New York-John F. Kennedy: Continues to operate twice-daily; flights have been renumbered with DL1/2 becoming DL3/4, and DL3/4 renumbered DL5/6. DL3/4 will continue to utilise Boeing 767-400ERs whilst DL5/6 will utilise Airbus A330-900s.
-Salt Lake City: Operates daily; DL50/51 will utilise Airbus A330-900s replacing Airbus A330-200s.
-Seattle-Tacoma: Operates daily; DL20/21 initially scheduled to utilise Airbus A330-900s but will now utilise Airbus A330-300s replacing previously allocated Boeing 767-400ERs.
As ever, these changes are provisional but there is a considerable ramp up in regards to aircraft type and product being offered to match with Virgin Atlantic. For Delta, the carrier will operate 77 weekly flights from London Heathrow; 4 of those daily flights remain in the hands of their newly refurbished Boeing 767-400ERs, otherwise Airbus A330s make up the lion-share with 3 daily flights provided by Airbus A330-200s, one by Airbus A330-300s and 3 by the new Airbus A330-900s.
Since initially posting their changes a few months prior, Delta tentatively scheduled Airbus A330-900s into London Heathrow on a regular basis with Salt Lake City and Seattle-Tacoma the first two flights to receive the type; this has now changed whilst Salt Lake City retains the Airbus A330-900s, Seattle-Tacoma will have to wait with Airbus A330-300s replacing the Boeing 767-400ERs. Another notable change is one of 2 daily flights from New York-John F. Kennedy will operate with Airbus A330-900s operating alongside the Boeing 767-400ERs.
Finally, Delta will reinstate their daily service from Los Angeles with Airbus A330-900s, which originally operated for the S15 schedule with Boeing 767-300ERs but prematurely cancelled in September 2015. It is very likely the reinstatement of their daily flight to Los Angeles is as a result of a slot-swap with Virgin Atlantic who at present operates thrice-daily flights to Los Angeles.
If rumours are to be believed, Delta will be making further announcements in regards to their long-haul programme for 2023 and with Virgin Atlantic confirmed to be joining SkyTeam from early-2023, expect more changes to follow.
Currently, Delta Air Lines operates 60 Airbus A330s, which includes 11 Airbus A330-200s, 31 Airbus A330-300s and 18 Airbus A330-900s. Delta Air Lines have 20 more Airbus A330-900s on-order.
November Eight Five Five November Whiskey is one of 11 Airbus A330-200s operated by Delta Air Lines, delivered new to Northwest Airlines on 7th October 2004 until transfer to Delta Air Lines on 29th October 2008 and she is powered by 2 Pratt & Whitney PW4168A engines.

On June 24, 2009, a couple of hundred employees from the German tyre manufacturer Continental came to Paris once again. After the closure of their plant in Clairoix (Oise), the "Contis", as they are known, have become the symbol of the current economical crisis which is sweeping the country. By their mobilization, they have achieved a better compensation package but still couldn't prevent the closing of the company. That day, they were asking the new Justice Minister, Michèle Alliot-Marie, to forbid and release 7 of their colleagues who had been arrested after some vandalism at the "sous-préfecture" of Compiègnes on April 21.

General Information
Subject: Noctilucent Clouds
Location & Date
Location: Hombeek, Belgium

Comments
On 21 June 2019 I witnessed an extremely rare sight in the skies over Belgium, called ‘noctilucent clouds’ (NLCs).
Noctilucent clouds are very high clouds (usually between 75-85km) that only occur on rare occasions. Scientists are still investigating these clouds and there is still no true consensus on how they are formed.
NLCs can only be observed during summer months, more specifically the period between end of May and beginning of July (for the Northern Hemisphere). After sunset and before sunrise, NLCs still reflect sunlight (due to their high altitude) and become visible. Usually this is late in the evening (between 11-12pm) ans also well before sunrise (between 4-5am).
According to preliminary meteorological reports, the NLC display of Friday 21 June 2019 was one of the biggest outbreaks ever recorded and was visible in many parts all over Europe.

Today's second Arachtober post involves a bit of setup for context. The beginning point is here. The information below got rather long, but that's because I found various aspects of this spider to be quite fascinating. You can either just look at the pictures, or read on to learn about some interesting spiders.
To pick up the story -
I left the orbweaver's web intact where it was, wondering if she'd show up again. She didn't, but 8 days after her disappearance, I saw this tiny spider in her web. It was so small that I couldn't really make out its details, so I took a photo. When I saw it enlarged on the camera's screen, it looked like it could be a dewdrop spider. Finding it in the web of another spider lent further credence to that idea, as dewdrop spiders are kleptoparasites, sneaking into the webs of larger spiders to steal what they can. I haven't seen many of those, so I brought it inside for a photoshoot.
When I went online to identify it, I found that it's too lumpy and not silvery enough to be a dewdrop spider. After some poking around, I finally discovered its ID, and wasn't at all surprised to find that it used to be in the dewdrop spider genus Argyrodes, but was moved to Faiditus in 2004.
The giant "Spiders of North America" guide has this to say about the genus name:
"A medieval Latin noun meaning 'one who is involved in a feud, an exile.' There is no discoverable semantic rationale."
I didn't find any one descriptive source about this species, but I pieced together information from comments on BugGuide, where there are only 10 observations (including mine). It seems their behavior is similar to or the same as that of Argyrodes species. Several BG submissions mentioned them being found in the webs of larger spiders. One was found on a recently dead orbweaver, and the resident BG spider expert suggested it may have killed the orbweaver. This spider is so small and delicate that it's hard to imagine it being able to do that, but the equally dainty Argyrodes species is known to.
I hope she didn't kill my orbweaver! Whatever the case, she certainly provided a good learning opportunity; I hadn't previously heard of this genus. If you made it down to here, I assume you enjoyed the learning, too. :-)
Happy Arachtober 21, pt 2!

The Pilgrimage Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelená hora (former German name: Grünberg, meaning "Green Hill") is a religious building at the edge of Žďár nad Sázavou, Czech Republic, near the historical border between Moravia and Bohemia. It is the final work of Jan Santini Aichel, a Bohemian architect who combined the Borrominiesque Baroque with references to Gothic elements in both construction and decoration.
In 1719, when the Roman Catholic Church declared the tongue of John of Nepomuk to be incorruptible, work started to build a church at Zelená hora, where the future saint had received his early education. It was consecrated immediately after John's beatification in 1720, although construction works lumbered on until 1727. Half a century later, after a serious fire, the shape of the roof was altered.
The church, with many furnishings designed by Santini himself, is remarkable for its gothicizing features and complex symbolism, quite unusual for the time. In 1994, it was declared a World Heritage Site The nomination dossier pointed out Santini's mathematical ratios in its architecture which aimed at "the creation of an independent spatial reality", with "the number 5 being dominant in the layout and proportions" of the church. for more lore check Wiki.
Here we are. Week 21. Fantastic! Approaching the half way mark of this 52 week project.
Happy Tuesday! No, really though -Happy Tuesday because the sun is out! The air outside warms your skin. You have to squint when you look in certain directions. A drastic change from the "boo-hoo" rainy weather we've been experiencing in the Bay Area. And the worst part of it is -the rain is ever fleeting. Hit and run, hit and run. So unpredictable. I am totally in favor of spontaneity, but someone needs to cut me some slack!
I went out near the Golden Gate Bridge the other day with my best friend Argin to try and catch some crabs. Our trip was an utter failure. Well, maybe not "utter." Let's not be too brazen now! Close to it though. Three hours. Two crabs. Not cool. I suppose it just was not our day. On a lighter note, the fun in crabbing is more or less about enjoying the company you're with ... not so much the catch. And Argin and I did enjoy each others company.
I don't know how many of you are UFC fans, but I am. This Saturday. Anderson "The Spider" Silva versus Vitor Belfort. Who are you rooting for? I'm cheering for Belfort!
"If a Smile Could Light Up Your Day." I suppose I'd smile all day, every day. HA, middle school throwback! -good grief.
But seriously people. Smile. It's good for you. And if you smile at someone -they just might smile back.
And there is no such thing as too big a smile ... oh, wait a second ... There we go!
