This is a photo from my favourite encounter of 2015. Originally, I thought I had only one usable photo in the sequence, but with a little TLC, this is the second.

This is a male Merlin bringing his mate a meal. She is waiting near their nest. Later in the year I observed 3 offspring terrorizing the same neighbourhood.

WORLD ELEPHANT DAY - My favourite of all animals. I just adore them.

Here are some of my highlights of 2015! Started strong with the ancient mocs with some Loreos and Space thrown in for good measure. ;)

This year was different in that I didn't post almost a third of the creations I built. Steven and I have many different books we plan on publishing sometime next year, so stay tuned for those!

Thanks for looking favoriting and commenting, and here's to an awesome 2016!

Yes, that's right. Two posts in two days. Woah, hold on there people, don't go falling off your chairs. You never know, we might even make three out of three tomorrow. As mentioned yesterday, I'm wanting to start posting some new stuff shortly and really I have a bunch of photos I've been meaning to share for ages. So I might try and do a small run of posts.

Oh man what a year ... fulls of ups and downs... when I put this together I starting thinking - wow I didn't really build much this year, then I hit June and July and remembered the giant collab chunks I built (not all are even pictured!).

So here are my fav builds from 2015. The three on the right are probably most meaningful:

Claptrap - haha he's so awesome - I still love playing the game, and it's awesome get to play with some other builders

NCS Moonbase - this was a dream pet project - a true 'build it and they would come' - it was incredible to see all the starfighters being built to put on my little and very over crowded base. This was even worse at BFVA :P

StarCraft collab - this was a monstrous effort - and Tim, Cecilie and Bart are real heroes for getting this done. Another amazing dream team for keep going when it seemed like we'd slip behind another year.

Of course like all years the highlights are the conventions, and getting to meeting new people and old friends. It's really amazing to keep seeing everyone and meeting new people, and i keep being humbled by sheer generosity of everyone and their gifts - thank you so much, for giving me a piece of you ....

Among the this year highlights:

Exploding kitties pre-release

Finding the longest POSSIBLE way to Sears Tower, and Chicago down town shenanigans

Simon Drafting /w sing along

ToroBar - where everyone knows your name

IMPlug & friends

scrambles builds NCS - style

crazy Starcraft photo shoots

Night time shenanigans

someone 'accidentally' selling my birthday gift...

HINKLE HAMMER

real life PEW PEW PEW

LEGO Spoons

so many mixels.... and Sir Mixe-lots

Meeting actual Borderlands dev! and getting a swanky mouse!

Trebuchets

KNIVES

BroTime chats

breakfasts.... so many breakfasts...

late night romantic beer strolls with Pascal (and forgetting in SEATTLE you can do 1hr Amazon prime for beer)

Firealarm (well it's not really highlight, but was memorable!)

scramble builds some more!

Grant bin builds and letting me hang out in their super spacious area

CANADIAN POLITICS, YO!

the mystery of the random AFOL that had no place to go that we let sleep in our room ... and never spoke to us again....

going to mario land XD

Creations for Charity, we raised so much and did so much good ....

And SHIPtember - you guys know it was a joke to start off with right? I didn't actually think anyone would do it besides me and a few other folks... but much like how I see Iron Builder transform builders and people really take up the challenge to build something monstrously incredible in span of a month. Really amazing to keep seeing this going and the enthusiasm that ensues. As long as I'm alive, they'll be a SHIPtember!

And really all this LEGOing isn't the same with out all you amazing people to share it with. Sure it'd still be fun, but not as much fun with all your comments and interactions that really keep the hobby going - so thanks for being a friend! Real life, occasional, virtual, or even virtual stalkers! Thanks!

Here's to the new year everyone!

Thanks, and let's go exploring!

Wishing you all the best in the new year! Thank you for the joy of being friends. Hugs to all.

" Pours hazy reddish brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, raisins, toffee and sweet malt. Flavor is moderat to heavy sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light moderate carbonation, a slightly oily mouthfeel and alcohol warmth in the finish. "

Yesterday.

I appreciated the extra hour of sleep. Even if I don't really see the point of time changes.

It wasn't raining yet so I grabbed my gear and headed into the forest just above North Vancouver. The first few creeks either had too much or too little in the way of water. When a decent creek was located, I spent time wandering up and down it. Photography was the goal, however the enjoyment of picking my way through the underbrush, rocks and water seemed sufficient. On my way back I crossed over the Baden Powell Trail and thought I would try a little light-painting. I'm holding my crayon. Happy Halloween! :)

Went into the office to catch up on paperwork. It was nice being inside when the rain started tocome down.

Stopped in to visit my parents. Had tea and learned a new game; Carcasonne.

Then received an emergency call to go down to my current project site. The temporary roof had torn and water was pouring into the suite below. Despite standing on the roof in the rain, I actually enjoyed figuring out a way to stitch it together and keep it in place for the night. Will find out if it worked this morning. It was convenient that I had my hiking headlamp with me!

Then it was home to dry off and watch my undefeated Packers lose. Drat.

Sunday was finished off with Sam arriving home. He must have had a full day too, as he fell asleep easily.

November is off to a good start.

There is something about this Church.

For SHIPtember of 2015 I decided again to do something based on a reference work. The chosen object was after a short look-around through the web clear. A Reaper from the Mass Effect Universe.

But I knew, that if I title it in the WIP-stages with "Reaper", that everyone immediately knows where it will end. So I decided to build a specific reaper, the first reaper - Sovereign. Or as it was referred to by the Geth Legion in Mass Effect 2: Nazara!
