The Greylag Goose (also spelled Graylag in the United States), Anser anser, is a bird with a wide range in the Old World. It is the type species of the genus Anser.
It was in pre-Linnean times known as the Wild Goose ("Anser ferus"). This species is the ancestor of domesticated geese in Europe and North America. Flocks of feral birds derived from domesticated birds are widespread.
It was a very busy year for me rescuing a rabbit, a dog and lots & lots of cats in 2011----so many I lost count. This mosaic by no means show each and every cat I caught this year but it represents some of my more memorable ones.
I am hoping that in 2012 there are fewer feral or strays that have been dumped or neglected and are in need of TNR. But if it's another busy year, so be it....it is my calling to come to their aid.

Der Tiergarten Schönbrunn im Park des Schlosses Schönbrunn im 13. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Hietzing wurde 1752 von den Habsburgern gegründet und ist der älteste noch bestehende Zoo der Welt. Direktor des Tiergartens ist seit 2020 der Zoologe Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck. Seit dem Jahr 2006 hat der Zoo jedes Jahr über 2 Millionen Besucher. Auf einer Fläche von 17 Hektar sind rund 7.800 Tiere aus 700 Arten zu sehen. In Anthony Sheridans Zoo-Ranking wurde der Tiergarten sechsmal in Folge (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018 und 2021) als bester europäischer Zoo mit dem „Best European Zoo Award“ in Gruppe A (mehr als 1 Million Besucher) ausgezeichnet.
