What a melancholy sight - other locos included 20065 20097 20005 20100 20158 20097 etc.....
I finally exhausted my original batch of Ferrania P30 Alpha and moved on to Ferrania P30.

The driver 0f 20005 peers along the bonnet of his loco as the windscreen wiper jerks unhappily back and forth. This is the only time I ever saw class 20's working as a pair nose to tail, a combination which must have been unpleasant to drive on this winding branch to Denby.
The branch left the main line at Little Eaton Junction, it was once a through route to Butterley via Ripley but by this time the line was only open to serve Denby Colliery.
This was a favourite train of mine to photograph because it could produce almost any power, I have a pair of 31's, a single 37 a 56, a Peak and more than one pair of class 20's. Quite what I was doing at Coxbench on this day I cannot remember but this is the only picture taken during the day.
20005 was built by English Electric as D8005, it entered traffic new at Devons Road (Bow) 09/09/1957. It was withdrawn 27/07/1989 and cut at M.C. Metals 05/12/1990.
Possibly because of the surprise of nose to tail class 20's or more likely because of the rain I failed to get the number of the second loco.

One of those shots that is very close to my heart !!
UBL's WDP-4 20005, with its headlights on, along with its shedmate 20007 working as brakers for Vasco bound Amravati express break the tranquillity of Braganza ghat section as they move through the green foliage towards Kulem at a sedate pace.
My February 1987 notes recorded this image as taken at Bulwell Forest crossing where BR 20005 & 20080 had just eased their loaded MGR from Calverton Colliery through Bestwood Park Junction. Calverton Colliery had been opended in 1952 and was later modernised to operate merry-go-round trains for the Trent Valley power stations traffic.

Back in the old North Sea Range days, Waddington hosted numerous waves of visitors and on that day there were twelve French Mirage 2000's, five Belgian F-16MLU's along with five Royal Navy Sea Harriers

Imported GT46PAC locomotive homed at UBL DLS, still in its bold avatar, WDP-4 20005 along with its shedmate 20007 have a time out at Castle Rock after completing their banking duties and wait for the arrival of Goa express to take over the braking duties of the same.
The look of an imported WDP-4 in long hood forward, pulling a good 22-coach load with nonchalant ease is unbeatable. Seen here is Hubli's 20005 thundering past Hejjala station at around 100kmph with Tippu SF express bound to Mysore.
Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) of 16590 Kolhapur T.-Bengaluru 'Rani Chennamma Express' washes windshield of his machine; the imported WDP4 #20005 homed at UBL (HUBLI) after reversing it here at Miraj Jn. The US manufactured EMD diesel locomotive is equipped with Auto Emergency Braking (AEB). (Feb 2013).
In the world where your kind is getting killed, be the person who takes a rebirth.
Vibrant looking, just as the sky above, WDP-4 20005 back out after a POH at GOC heads back to its home shed HUBLI in dead mode with the morning passenger to Hubli from Bangalore.
