DHC 2 Beaver I
Kenmore Air
Built 1957
C/N 1273
Back to planes with the Beaver - unusual for them to be up so early
UPDATE APR 2020
Still current. Delivered to the US Army as 57-6168 as an L-20 then U-6A, retired and stored at Davis Monthan AFB AZ. Joined Hillcrest Aviation in Feb 1976, then Kenmore in Sep 1982. Operated for a pilot friend of the owner as Vitulli Ventures Sep 1992 - Jun 2012.
1) I made a heart charm (see above) because I am a jewelry designer. On the side you can see a rose quartz faceted briolette. Rose quartz is the stone of love. Above it is a cross shaped component. I suppose I am a religeous romantic who loves pink!
PS: that heart is Venetian glass from Murano, with a rose on it.
2) I am addicted to Dolly Molly doll clothes so I used her bow in this design! She sells on Etsy!
3)I have 5 sons and 2 grandsons. Two of my sons are severely autistic and one of them has seizures. The Blythes give me comfort. My children and husband are my WORLD.
4) My husband is the best guy in the whole wide world and makes me laugh EVERY DAY! HE is MY SWEETHEART!
5) I am a lefty but I do all sports and make jewelry right handed...I also play the guitar right handed.
6) I have red hair but I have to dye it now. :) People used to think my sister and I were twins when we were kids. She has red hair too.
7) I was a certified SCUBA diver when I was younger but I think those things lapse if you don't keep them up.
8) I also used to be a bodybuilder and trained with a former Mr. Olympia. I worked at a Nautilus in the eighties when all that stuff was really hip! I wore cut up sweatshirts and everything, just like in the movie "Flashdance"! LOL How embarassing!
9) I have a book out called Links by Jean Yates. It is a jewelry design book.
10) I can interpret your dreams, any and all, and I don't charge. I am extremely good at this.People usually say, "Wow! I don't believe it! You really hit the nail on the head!!!" I think I have this talent partially because I spent my whole childhood reading constantly and this enabled me to understand symbols and how they apply universally to many aspects of unconscious life. Feel free to email me if you have a recurring dream that bothers you or if you are just curious about your dreams.
11) I love music! I am particularly in love with sad ballads and indie alt music.
12) I am a "Twilight" head! :)
13) When I was ten, I used to act and took acting lessons in NYC. My parents would send me in on the train by myself. I trained as an actress until my first marriage at age 20. Then I quit and became a housewife and started a family! My first son was born when I was 26.
14) I think Hefty Zip Loc bags rule (do you think I am getting worn out here?)
15) My childhood Teddy bear's name was Coco. He was dark brown and was a Steiff.
16) I have been a vegetarian since 2005 but I have no reason -- I just AM one!
off to tag 16 people!
Scripture - Matthew 28:16-20
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
The beautiful minature stained glass window can be seen inside of Saint Jude's Church, located on 40 Maxim Drive in Hopatcong, NJ, USA.

Originally ordered for lease to Alitalia as EI-CVK, the lease was cancelled and the aircraft was delivered to Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VROY in Jun-01. It was sold to GECAS on delivery and leased back to Virgin Atlantic.
Due to the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Mar-20, Virgin Atlantic made the decision to immediately retire the remaining seven aircraft in the B747-400 fleet. G-VROY was initially parked at London-Heathrow at the end of Mar-20.
Then it was briefly stored at Glasgow, Scotland and Manchester in May-20 before ferrying to Ciudad Real, Spain in late Jun-20 for further storage. The aircraft ferried back to London-Heathrow in mid Nov-20 before moving to Marana, AZ, USA in Dec-20.
It was returned to the lessor and leased to Atlas Air Inc as N482MC in Jan-21. It remained stored at Marana until Jul-21 when it moved to Houston-Intercontinental (presume for cabin reconfig and painting). The aircraft entered service in Dec-21 and currently operates trooping flights for the US Government. Updated 06-Nov-22.

This weekend I decided to go to one of the villages of Varzaqan city called "Malek Talesh". At first, It was a good road to Varzagan, but after that, it changed in to the dirt road. The dirt road was not bad at first, But gradually, It get worse and worse. suddenly I regretted that what the heck am I doing in here. 😐
We continued our way, but after a while, I realized that, we are between so many mountains. No village, No forest, No human, Nor even any alive creature, except us. Nevertheless, we continued our journey and the road become worse and narrower. we were clearly between the devil and the deep blue sea. 😦😳
when it was a fork in the road, the decision become harder. In addition, we did not have any map or even internet. All in all, we did not have any problems, Because we have had a powerful magical key, that can solve any problems in the world.
After breathing deeply, I began to say the words:
Inky Binky Bonky,
Daddy had a donkey,
Donkey died, daddy cried,
Inky Binky Bonky.
and sometimes I used the other magic words:
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
That's how we choose the road and continued our journey. 😂😃
Unfortunately after a while, the dirt road with many small stone changed in to a narrow maze road with so many stones, rocks and shrubs in the road. OMG 😵😱
It was terrible and boring to drive on that kind of the road, but suddenly everything changed to be fun.
All the way, we had a music on, but that time the new music played on, and with that unintentionally shaking that we did on the car, I realized we need some wiggle and jiggle. (NOW OR NEVER)
So suddenly I push the brake pedal and jumped out of the car and began to dance. yoooohaaaaa 🙆😍 It was so fun.
What a pity that none of my friends danced with me. (to bad to be alone😟) Then we went back to our journey.
Finally, after awhile I saw a small little tiny village, pulling us toward himself, with that wild hawthorn fruit that we eat many on the side of the road, we become much enthusiastic to get there.
Yes, finally we reached that village called "Malek Talesh". But at the entrance of the village I saw a graveyard, with many half open graves, then I saw skull bones, Hip bones, chest bones and et cetera. It was almost 2 hours before the sunset that I remembered the ghost town, especially by seeing the open graves and ruined bones with old ruined houses. (Oh where am I? In a morgue!?) 😱😰💀
I park the car in the village and immediately met one of the villager, called Mr Vali. then we met village's teacher Mr Ali. (So kind people). we visit the village about half and hour and took many photos, It was a village with 60 people but I did not saw more than 20. Then we came back at the school and sleep there. But let me tell you about "Nightlife". 🙅💁
However, I know I can't explain it exactly, but after sunset, From 18:00 to 2:00 at midnight, we talked, argued, laughed even more. suddenly I saw thunder lightning, then began to rain lightly. Imagine to have a electric heater corner of the room and drizzling at the time with that pleasing river sound in the darkness, which made nightlife much more enjoyable. (No TV, No radio, No internet, No car's sound, Nor even being worry about anything, and better than the all, not having any phone signal). That was the one thing that made my life a lot happier that week.
For dinner and breakfast we had pasta, Local sheep butter, salty local cheese, fresh yogurt, local new cooked bread and barbary with natural honey (best honey ever I ate). especially drinking village's water witch came out of the mountains. It was entirely pure, natural and local. (I was in Paradise men). 🙏😇😎
We moved the next day. everything went as planned, except thick fog in the noon. so we had to drive so slowly. we could not saw more than one or two meter on that mazy road. 😵😬
For the first time in my life, I had some bodyguards, can you believe that!? (so interesting) Two of them were in the car, and the others were in the motorbikes, in front of me. after escorting us a few kilometers away, it was time to say thank you and goodbye. (Oh I don't want it, cause I don't like it!) Then we went our way back home. 😉

Just as Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. He can do the same for YOU!
John 11
1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) 3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. 4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. 6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judæa again. 8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? 9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. 10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. 11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. 16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already. 18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: 19 and many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. 21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. 23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? 27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee. 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him. 30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him. 31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, 34 and said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. 43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. 46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. 48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. 49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, 50 nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. 51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; 52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. 53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. 54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves. 56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast? 57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.

Introduction to the Westthorpe Run Round.
This working really did get 'the juices flowing' due to its apparent destination - the old L.D.E.C.R.'s stub of a line at Beighton, the Westthorpe Run Round, which I have seen over the last year or two in various states of dismantlement! There are three shots of it included in the 'Views in Cameras 2019' Video which can be seen here-
the pictures appearing from the 4minute point in the video. It looked fairly clear, looking along the 'Old Road' from the footbridge into the Rother Valley Country Park at Beighton Junction, that the double set of lines over into the old coal Run Round loop, had been disconnected. If there was a chance that this light engine 37, 37612, was going to reverse on the single line in the loop, the exit signal, S1033, back onto the main line still being present, and lit, I ought to make some effort to get a shot and nothing has used this for several years. I have a picture from September 2nd, 2015, showing a Freightliner class 66, 66507, heading south across the River Rother just a bit further up the line, see-
www.flickr.com/photos/imarch1/49548982618/
It then slows for the signal ahead, ready to turn off into the loop, the picture being taken from the Beighton Junction footbridge into Rother Valley Country Parks, see-
www.flickr.com/photos/imarch1/49549481871/
showing, on the left, the train passing Sheffield PSB's S0282 signal with the Amber aspect and 'feather' illuminated, for the turn-out into the loop, which is shown in the right-hand of the two shots. This two coal-wagon working had come along from Hunslet Yard in Leeds, south along the 'Old Road' to take the turn-out here onto the L.D.E.C.R's bit of line where it then ran round the two wagons, hooked up onto the other end and came out again, now crossing over the Midland lines, to take the GCR's line through Beighton Station to Woodhouse Junction Sidings, it can be seen doing this part in another picture taken just after the reversal, see-
www.flickr.com/photos/imarch1/49548982258/
Funny how keeping this stuff available has assisted in describing what could have happened today with the 37. I am not sure this was the last time the Run Round was used and certainly, later, a 'Sidings Nooks and Crannies' type of tour was supposed to go in there and reverse, but it didn't. There may well have been the odd coal train reversal, from N/SE/W to access various power stations, but they were few and far between and with, in the last 2-3 years, the huge down-turn in the use of coal and power stations changing over to more climate-friendly option, coal trains and their reversal, are now a thing of the past...
So, it will be appreciated that _if_ there was any chance this reversal was going to happen, it was worth being in the area for it. Unfortunately, it ultimately did not reverse in the Westthorpe Run Round loop, mainly because, as I soon discovered by looking in detail at some of my long distance shots from the footbridge, it _had_ been disconnected and second, although not diagrammed in the time-table, it _actually_ reversed at Barrow Hill! Evidence of the disconnection can be seen in these, long-distance, shots taken showing A Freightliner, a GBRf and an E.M.R. ECS move all waiting at the Run Round loop junction, for the workmen to clear out of the way so they can all pass along the main lines and, fortunately, the picture is still available to see here-

Today, Colas Rail operated class 37, 37612, ex-D6879, is seen heading up the Stocksbridge branch line from Woodburn having set off from Doncaster West Yard, just under an hour ago, appearing to rattle along without too much fuss but for the last 30 minutes or so, there is no indication of its movements if it is coming along here as after Rotherham Central, the timings on the the signalling along the Lower Don Valley aren't shown. Word was passed along however that the unit had crossed the Wicker at the old Sheffield Victoria site and, on time, here it is with the light very challenging as these shots look due south. 37612 is on the 0Z66, Doncaster West Yard to Westthorpe Run Round and it was actually time-tabled to come up here 4 times, now, 10:20, then back at 11:28, following a reversal in Sheffield, back again at 14:55 and finally, at 16:20, in the event, it only did this one, Phew !!
There is at least one Australian soldier here, with the slouch hat on the left in the back row.
The Grange Auxiliary Hospital opened on 30th January 1915 in a house lent by a Mrs Vivian Brettell. The house, built on the slopes of St Ann's Hill, a 20-minute walk away from Chertsey, was large and comfortable with pleasant grounds, mature shady trees, and tennis and croquet lawns.
At first the Hospital had 10 beds and received overflow patients from St George's Hill Auxiliary Hospital. By the end of March 1915 the beds were all occupied.
The bed complement was soon increased to 20, then 25, and the Hospital became affiliated to the Tooting Military Hospital. The nursing staff consisted of a Sister-in-charge and members of the Surrey/82, /96 and /122 Voluntary Aid Detachments (V.A.D.s).
By 1917 the Hospital had 30 beds for wounded servicemen, who usually stayed for about two weeks, receiving general treatment and massage (physiotherapy). The nursing staff now included a Matron and 2 resident V.A.D. nurses.
The Hospital closed on 23rd January 1919. During its operational lifetime, some 1,038 patients had been treated. The expenses of the Hospital, beyond the military grant, had been borne entirely locally, and included gifts of vegetables, fruit, flowers, cakes, etc.
Since 1965 the building has been a nursing home - the Grange Retirement Home.

Room-service breakfast at the Sheraton Gateway in Atlanta.
My flight from Gulfport was delayed by mechanical difficulties, so I missed my connection in Atlanta. Delta paid for my room and gave me vouchers for dinner and breakfast.
Believe me, at Sheraton prices a $7 meal voucher doesn't go far. For dinner I had chicken noodle soup. The room service breakfast was good, but was it worth $27.00? With the voucher it dropped to $20. Then I added $4 for the server who delivered it. Was that a mistake? They had already added a $2.50 delivery charge and a 20% service charge. So obviously, I should not have added any gratuity at all.
Much fancier than a free motel breakfast.
Lighting. This was shot with light from an overhead desk lamp. I also shot an 18% gray card to check the color balance.
Bit of an experiment in camera movement! Woodland scene was not interesting so decided to add some movement to it! Focused beforehand using a small aperture (f22) for good DoF gave me a shutter speed of 1/20. Then raised the camera upwards whilst pressing the shutter. I also tried twisting the camera round lans axis to give circular motion which worked well.

It was Peter Barclay who introduced me to Flickr and how to set up my own website. It's places like this that can enhance our hobby so much and it's really good to share pictures and information the way we do. My own enthusiasm has been enhanced by seeing 'transport through the ages' from all parts of the world and how inspiring it is then to go out and capture ones own
images - a part of history for all to enjoy and research in the future.

A quick walk to catch the last post (with my PCV licence renewal forms, ironically), and one coach from each of the three regular Amazon runs, plus photobombed by a bus.
Apologies to the driver of Whittles B12B - the car in front wanted to turn into the private entrance just where I was standing, so appeared to hold up the coach momentarily, until I realised the problem and moved.
It's four years since I last photographed Whittles 20, then on proper coach work.

I met a lady who trains dogs for TV and films while Crufts was on locally and we keep in touch via email she has been very helpful with Millie, first thing she suggested was changing her diet to a low protein content below 20% then she suggested Calm Down herbs which they use for show dogs that get too excited that and having her spayed have really helped.
We have had two significant setbacks:
a few weeks ago we are walking towards the playing fields for a game of fetch when a stray Staffy attacked her and went straight for her neck I couldn't separate them, there was blood everywhere and the noise was horrible eventually the owner (who seemed very responsible) arrived and got his dog off. Millie didn't have a scratch but the poor staffy was well and truly cut. Millie had got in first thankfully. She was never that friendly with other dogs and I had spent a long time and a mixture of techniques to get her to socialise now she is quite vicious.
Yesterday she got out of the garden (not unusual) and ended up on the road, she chased after a car and was hit not badly as the car wasn't going that fast but enough for her to growl at me and show her teeth when I touch/stroke her, we shall have to see what are the long term complications after that.

When this aircraft was built, Airbus Industrie didn't use an F-WW** test registration on aircraft which were destined for the French airline industry, so this aircraft first flew, and was delivered to Air France as F-GLZK in Jan-98.
The aircraft was transferred to 'Joon', a new Air France 'low-cost & funky' subsidiary in Apr-18. Needless to say, it didn't work with any success and was absorbed back into Air France in Jun-19.
At the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Mar-20, the aircraft was stored and never returned to service. It was ferried to Istanbul-ISL in Oct-20 then sold to Kam-Air, Afghanistan as YA-WTA in Dec-20. It was stored at Herat, Afghanistan on delivery, still in full 'Joon' livery.
In Jul-21 the aircraft was ferried to Siauliai, Lithuania for further storage. It was thought that it was to be leased to Airhub Airlines but that didn't happen and it remained stored. As far as I'm aware, it's still at Siauliai. Updated 01-Jun-25.

In 1851 Indiana and Iowa and in 1853 Illinois enacted legislation barring the immigration of any black persons, free or slave.
. . . Intended in part to reassure the South by denying sanctuary to fugitive slaves, the exclusion laws also reflected the racist entiments of many whites, especially Butternuts.
Although Ohio had repealed its Negro exclusion law in 1849, many residents of the southern tier of Ohio counties wanted no part of black people and were more likely to aid the slave catchers than the fugitive.

139th Ohio Infantry (or 139th OVI) was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The 139th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio and mustered in May 11, 1864 for 100 days service under the command of Colonel Jacob Lloyd Wayne, Jr. The regiment left Ohio for Washington, D.C., May 20, then moved to Point Lookout, Md., June 1, and was assigned to prison guard duty there August 22. The 139th Ohio Infantry mustered out of service August 26, 1864.
Over 35,000 Ohio National Guardsmen were federalized and organized into regiments for 100 days service in May 1864. Shipped to the Eastern Theater, they were designed to be placed in "safe" rear areas to protect railroads and supply points, thereby freeing regular troops for Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant’s push on the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia. As events transpired, many units found themselves in combat, stationed in the path of Confederate Gen. Jubal Early’s veteran Army of the Valley during its famed Valley Campaigns of 1864. Ohio Guard units met the battle-tested foe head on and helped blunt the Confederate offensive thereby saving Washington, D.C. from capture. Ohio National Guard units participated in the battles of Monacacy, Fort Stevens, Harpers Ferry, and in the siege of Petersburg.

Henry Thompson Bridge
Built in 1916, restored in 2004
At the time it opened, its graceful arch was considered the longest single-span reinforced concrete bridge in the world and has been listed on the Washington State and National Historic Register since 1976. Until 1972, when the Washington State Department of Transportation re-routed Highway 20 (then known as Star Route 20) outside the town, the Thompson Bridge was the only connecting thoroughfare across the Baker River and into eastern Skagit County.
Facing West looking down on Bend Oregon from extinct cinder cone volcano and State Park Pilot Butte. The road to the left is Highway 20, aka Greenwood Ave, which leads East-West and will take you to Idaho. The Cascade Mountains are in the background with Mt Bachelor, just left of Highway 20, then Broken Top, South Sister, Middle Sister, North Sister, Mt Washington, Three Finger Jack, Black Butte and Mt Jefferson. The geological formation in the right corner of the horizon is Smith Rock State Park (see below), about 25 miles away, which is a popular rock climbing destination and where parts of John Wayne's movie "Roster Cogburn" was filmed as well as scenes in "Into The Wild" and "Swordfish".
There's a little residual forest fire smoke left on the horizon from the Warm Springs Indian Reservation to the North, which is on the right side.

I started swimming 2 to 3 times a week about 5 years ago. I swear it saved my life. Back then my life felt out of control. Swimming gave me control. I started off swimming one lap at a time, resting between each lap. Eventually I worked my way up to swimming 10 laps, then 20, then a full mile each time. I was accomplishing the goals I had set in the pool. It felt phenomenal. Suddenly everything didn't seem so overwhelming.
The pool became my sanctuary. While I may have been surrounded with chaos, the rush of the water in my ears blocked it out. When I'm underwater, I feel like I'm in an entirely different world. Sounds are muffled and vision is distorted. I've had many people tell me that lap swimming is boring. I love the monotony of it. It is the only time of my day when my thoughts flow freely. It's meditative. My mind clears and all of a sudden 30 minutes will have slipped away and I won't be conscious of having actively thought about anything. Other times, the chipped and faded lane lines become like Rorschach art, sometimes I'll see a gent in a top hat or bunny hoping along the lane line. There are also times I'll work on resolving some type of issue that I'm having, whether it is a problem with work or an issue I'm having in a relationship.
I've often joked with people when they ask me if I go to church I tell them "yes, all the time . . . the pool is my church". But it's no joke. I worship the water.

The composite of the set and reflecting the stark difference in old passenger traction on the left heading east to Lincoln in the form of Northern Rail DMU class 142, 142086 and on the right the Freightliner, not so old with its rake of 24, 90tonne HIA Aggregates wagons. DMU 142086 has the green on the WH51, 2-aspect colour light, with divergance feather, controlled from the Woodhouse Junction signal box. This is the local stopper, as they used to be called, 2P69 commencing in Scunthorpe at 12:20 then travelling via Doncaster and Sheffield (with 4 minute reversal) then on to Lincoln Central, so called though now there is no other, arriving 7 minutes early at 14:57. Apart from Test and Engineering train moves, the odd tour and early morning Coaching stock moves, this is about as exciting as it now gets at this junction. Once Woodhouse Junction box goes, set for ... next year, it will get even more mundane in these parts. Also slated for removal next year, and coming under control of the York Rail Operating Centre are- Barnetby East, Brocklesby Junction, Beighton Station, Immingham East, Kiveton Park, New Barnetby, SHEFFIELD PSB, Ulceby Junction, Woodburn Junction ad the York IECC (Integrated Electronic Control Centre); to name but only a few and these related to the area visited around these parts recently by yours truly. This list is much longer and will happen over 5 or more years, the last being as far away as 2020; IF NR plans are currently carried out but with recent financial problems being reported in the press, this program of change over from semaphore signalling to the ROCs, may take much longer than planned at present either from a slowing up of the work or the plans themselves may be delayed...
Today I had a very very busy day!
Up early to get to Aunt Yvonne's in Cardonald for 11:30. Unfortunately I forgot the Bon Jovi concert was on at Hampden today, so Central Station was heaving (even at that early time). I got my ticket and had 2 minutes to get my train. I ran as fast as my little legs would take me, but I got to the platform just as the train was pulling away - gutted,
So had to hang about for half an hour for the next train :(
Then it was onto Costco with Yvonne, Tasmin and Dylan - who is just getting so big - we had a wander round there while trying to entertain Dylan.
Then it was out to Xscape for lunch at Wetherspoons, which was yummy. And was followed by a large chocolate cake shared between the 4 of us.
Then it was back to Aunt Yvonne's for a cup of tea and to unpack the Costco shopping.
Then to get the train back into town and a mad dash to get to Queen Street Station to try get the 4:45 train. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, and again I just missed my train. Got the one at 5 though.
Into Edinburgh to jump into a taxi to Amy's flat, where we sat and chatted for an hour or so. Then it was onto Coconut Grove, a lovely Mexican restaurant for Sophie's surprise birthday meal.
The meal was great, nacho's, burritos, birthday cake and ice cream. Very yummy.
Unfortunately I couldn't hang about, and had to jump in another taxi to get back to Waverly in time for the 9:30 train (which somehow I made!) and back into Glasgow for 10:20.
Then (my day still isn't over!) mum picked me up from the train station and we went back to my flat and sat up late blethering! Then it was finally bed time.
I honestly don't know the last time I had such a busy Saturday!
I went to the Senior Citizen Center and paid my dues for next year - $20. Then I participated in Toni's Line Dance class. Next I stopped in a classroom and played 3 or 4 rounds of Chickenfoot. Then I drove to Stone Creek for Water Aerobics class with Laura. I came home and had dinner with Jim while we watched a "Murdoch Mystery" on a Netflix DVD. I watched "America's Got Talent" while completing several "Words with Friends" moves.
British card.
British actress Sybil Thorndike (1882–1976) was a distinguished theatrical tragedienne, who toured internationally in Shakespearean productions. Bernard Shaw wrote Saint Joan specially for her, and she starred in it with great success. Her over six-decade career allowed for a gallery of masterful portrayals, both classic and contemporary. However, she would not evolve into a film star. In later years, Thorndike played a number of queens, dowagers and old crones with finesse, such as in The Prince and the Showgirl (1957) with Marilyn Monroe. Many critics consider her as one of the greatest actresses of the 20th century.
Agnes Sybil Thorndike was born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, in 1882. Her parents were Arthur Thorndike, a minor canon of Rochester Cathedral, and Agnes Macdonald. She was the eldest of four children. One younger brother, Frank, was killed in WWI action, a tragedy that left her father inconsolable. He himself would die a few months later. Sybil was educated at Rochester Grammar School for Girls, and first trained as a classical pianist, making weekly visits to London for music lessons at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She gave her first public performance as a pianist at the age of 11, but in 1899 was forced to give up playing owing to piano cramp. At the instigation of her brother, the author Russell Thorndike, she then trained as an actress. Russell would later become a novelist and his sister's biographer. Gary Brumburgh at IMDb: “Not a classic beauty by any stretch, Dame Sybil had sharp features, prominent cheek bones and a pronounced chin that gave her a rather severe look. At age 21 she and her brother began professionally in a touring company guided by actor-manager Ben Greet.” The She made her first stage appearance in Greet's 1904 production of Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor. She went on to tour the U.S. in Shakespearean repertory for four years, playing some 112 roles. In 1908, she was spotted by the playwright George Bernard Shaw when she understudied the leading role of Candida in a tour directed by Shaw himself. There she also met her future husband, Lewis Casson. They were married in 1908, and had four children: John (1909–1999), Christopher (1912–1996), Mary (1914–2009) and Ann (1915–1990). She was survived by four children and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren when she died. She joined Annie Horniman's company in Manchester (1908–09 and 1911–13), went to Broadway in 1910, and then joined the Old Vic Company in London (1914–18), playing leading roles in Shakespeare and in other classic plays.
After the war, Sybil Thorndike played Hecuba in Euripides The Trojan Women (1919–20), then from 1920–22, Sybil and her husband starred in a British version of France's Grand Guignol directed by Jose Levy. She made her film debut in Moth and Rust (Sidney Morgan 1921), with Malvina Longfellow. The next year, she appeared in a large number of silent films, including versions of Bleak House (H.B. Parkinson, 1922), The Hunchback of Notre Dame/Esmeralda (Edwin J. Collins, 1922), Macbeth (H.B. Parkinson, 1922), The Merchant of Venice (Challis Sanderson, 1922) and The Scarlet Letter (Challis Sanderson, 1922). She returned to the stage in the title role of George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan in 1924, which had been written with her specifically in mind. The production was a huge success, and was revived repeatedly until her final performance in the role in 1941. In 1927, she appeared in a short film, made in the DeForest Phonofilm process, of her performing as Saint Joan in an excerpt of the play by George Bernard Shaw. The following year she played Nurse Edith Cavell in the silent British war film Dawn (Herbert Wilcox, 1928). Cavell was a nurse who risked her own life by rescuing British Prisoners of War from the Germans. When Cavell was captured and sentenced to be executed, it sparked international outrage, even from neutral nations. One of the most controversial British films of the 1920s, Dawn was censored because of what objectors considered its brutal depiction of warfare and anti-German sentiments. Pressure was exerted by both the German Ambassador and the British Foreign Secretary Austen Chamberlain to prevent the film being passed for exhibition. Both Thorndike and Casson were active members of the Labour Party, and held strong left-wing views. Even when the 1926 General Strike stopped the first run of Saint Joan, they both still supported the strikers. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1931. As a pacifist, Thorndike was a member of the Peace Pledge Union and gave readings for its benefit. During World War II, Thorndike and her husband toured in Shakespearean productions on behalf of the Council For the Encouragement of the Arts, before joining Laurence Olivier and Ralph Richardson in the Old Vic season at the New Theatre in 1944.
Among Sybil Thorndike’s notable film roles were General Baines in Major Barbara (Gabriel Pascal, 1941), Mrs. Squeers in Nicholas Nickleby (Alberto Cavalcanti, 1948), Queen Victoria in Melba (Lewis Milestone, 1952) and the witty Queen Dowager in The Prince and the Showgirl (Laurence Olivier 1957) with Marilyn Monroe and Olivier, for which she was awarded the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actress. She made her last film appearance - in a version of Uncle Vanya (Stuart Burge, 1963) featuring Anthony Hopkins. On stage, she continued to have success in such plays as N. C. Hunter's Waters of the Moon at the Haymarket in 1951-52. She also undertook tours of Australia and South Africa, before playing again with Olivier in Uncle Vanya at Chichester in 1962. She made her farewell appearance with her husband in a London revival of Arsenic and Old Lace at the Vaudeville Theatre in 1966. Her last stage performance was at the Thorndike Theatre in Leatherhead, Surrey, in There Was an Old Woman in 1969, the year Lewis Casson died. Her final acting appearance was in a TV drama The Great Inimitable Mr Dickens (Ned Sherrin, 1970), with Anthony Hopkins. The same year she was made a Companion of Honour. She and her husband (who was knighted in 1945) were one of the few couples who both held titles in their own right. In 1976 Dame Sybil died in London, England at the age of 93. Her ashes are buried in Westminster Abbey.

Fynn, to anyone that knows him, is a running madman. I've never been into distance running, I can do 10km if pushed but I'd much prefer to sprint (or take the car).
Fynn on the other hand will, like the energizer bunny, just keep going and going and going. When he was 5, the school had a cross country race, Fynn, because he was out in front ended up doing another lap of the course (because by the time he got around he had caught up with the slower people that still had a lap to go) and he still came 3rd overall...... and was happy to keep running....... he didn't get it from me, that's for sure.
I paced out 100m on the beach and we ran until we could run no more, I did 20, then walked up to get the beach to get the camera. Fynn did 40 before I made him stop for water..........
You gotta love him.

I had a lot of important things to write about but they all got overruled at brunch when I was listening to patriotic music and realized that completing my notes at Flickr about these Pearl Harbor pictures were my top priority. Except first is an unplanned detour.
In class L127D (@ 5 min) I explain why I listen to Glenn Miller music with my patriotic music at brunch, actually Glenn Miller is the only music I have on my patriotic playlist www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVDkjTNqYqh0ylmTqlRo-H5dVl... as I wrote in the description:
I wanted to make this a patriotic playlist but after watching four versions of God bless the USA and the Battle Hymn of the Republic that were so warped to mock the United States and those songs I realized I'm just too disabled to play these damn evil games with THE FBI I had to give up on it. I'll write a list of the songs I listen to and how much it has helped me later.
The reason I put that here was because when I read “the Battle Hymn of the Republic” my Refrigerator Quit (“rq” or “rw” is when it starts) at rq9:04am 11-25-14. The number 94 means “now ain’t that too damn bad”, it's from the first song in the movie South Pacific and I realized it was a sign from God to the south that you might want to start admitting who was right and who was wrong in the Civil War. Here’s (DS=Tears) what I wrote at class L94 vimeo.com/39845641.
I heard NEW YORK CITY didn't like what I wrote about them at class 206 @ vimeo.com/76811342. I also heard heaven was pleased with what I said to NEW YORK CITY and "the south and the Civil War, I'm sorry but you were wrong as hell so just admit it and GET OVER IT" (After I say that I show the first jet hitting the World Trade Center synced to the song “GET OVER IT!” at 9 to 11 minutes in L94.)
I use dictation on my Mac to write these and when I said “Here’s what I wrote at class L94” my dictation thought I said “Tears” instead of “Here’s” and at 9:19 it means when a 19 cries like NEW YORK CITY did when they pushed God a little too far at the 9/11 disaster. Another Dictation Slip (DS) just now was “NEW YORK CITY good”, it was implying how I paid Vimeo vimeo.com/user8696549 back for referring to me as a “computer savvy pet” when I said: “Squirm you (computer savvy pet) worms because this 86 is going to stick, (DS= the city six is going to stick)”.
I realized that was a sign (@ 847am 10-28-14) that ”the sick city” is going to stick to NEW YORK CITY for fighting against God so much since the 9/11 disaster and especially after I explained that’s where the Easter egg came from in class 99 vimeo.com/36995187.
Here's the table of contents:
@ 37 I finish explaining the Easter “egg” as it applies to JESUS’ death which leads into the signs of how much my safety was payed for by SAINT PETER in JOHN 21:18 to 21.
@ 49 I found out and explain why my hons, (Abba, hon & the Holy Spirit WHO KNOW EVERYBODY), are wearing the American flag as a bathing suit. First I explain that they got a couple guys to pave the way for my safety named JULIUS and AUGUSTUS CAESAR, (I also explain the months JULY and AUGUST are named after them), and before them came ABRAHAM in Genesis 22:1 to 13.
@ 43 to 58 min is the most proof I have about a paver for my safety and that is ABRAHAM LINCOLN.
@ 58 I made tribute to the people who paved for OUR safety (& mine) in the U.S. MILITARY. It also seems to fulfill a prediction in Bible, the proof appears to be in the parallel scenes of the movies FANTASIA 2000 and APOCALYPSE NOW at 58 to 68 minutes.
After the murder attempt on me on 3-20-14 going to National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is no longer an option but a must and I take a picture of the USA T-shirt I'm wearing as my proof to heaven that I went there so they will protect my safety. I changed that to only taking pictures of Punchbowl now because I got mocked for being “you’re so vain” for taking pictures of those T-shirts, (but I still wear them for safety). The best explanation of why all this works is in class 99 and in these descriptions to my pictures here at Flickr. I show the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific as convincing proof of USA heroes that have paved the way for our (my) safety, (because I've lived safely in Hon, Hi for 22 years when so many people want me dead).
It was time to move all that I've written here in text edit to a description of a photo at flickr and when I wrote the title: “Lessons I learned while writing this description” I got an rw940am which confirmed the rq904am at the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It was reiterating to both “NEW YORK CITY and ‘the south and the Civil War, I'm sorry you were wrong as hell just admit it and GET OVER IT’”.
Here’s a similar problem of horns showing:
I praised the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders in THIS CLASS L96 vimeo.com/44022574, then I politely disagreed with them in class 17/15 vimeo.com/47612248 and in L109 vimeo.com/49352072 @ 5 min but the best advice is at 54 min and 1:20. Then I had to let them and the Bush twins have it in L127 @ 1 to 3 min at vimeo.com/105315202. It's like "How could such beautiful and talented girls be so ugly?". Try to not let your horns show so much because it's a big turnoff to real Christians. NEW YORK CITY had the same problem in this line from the last paragraph of L94 @ vimeo.com/39845641.
Being that evil is very unattractive, it's like your old Top of the Sixes restaurant at 666 Fifth Ave, like those big red sixes are the heart of NEW YORK CITY. It's similar to how women have caused God to 86 love from marriage in this class L94.
Also in L94 @ 20 to 31 minutes I explain the #912 means “unforgiven”, so the date helps confirms the offense that the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders were "unforgiven" (912) for how bad I was treated for my "69" of "your stare was holding" of adoring these girls for three days straight since 6-9-12. It caused me to make this class L96 to show off what a good job I THOUGHT they did but I had to correct myself in later classes.
I realized this is another one of those “you just can't keep being evil forever without paying for it”, and one way that happens is when a label to sticks to you. I noticed that at 1020am which means my birthday and in this case it was a sign how of God would defend me from my ex-wife’s lies, (the number 1019 means “pig and /or my ex wife Rori”). Even though “the powers that be” took her side against me it's still just like I told Rori in 1986, (after she told me that she had turned a Christian couple against me), I said “I don’t care if the whole world is on your side, if God is on my side I’m still going to win.” I didn’t know I was “the one” nor the size of the conspiracy that was against me but Rori knew it and knew that I was inspired by God to say that and it was a sign that God would back it up and confirm what I was saying was true which has been mega confirmed in 28 years that have followed. That brings me to another subject I was going to write about this morning and that's GOSSIP.
In class 1a1 vimeo.com/72927740 at six minutes I say “I know I'm not supposed to gossip about people but now I found out that you can even get in trouble for talking bad about inanimate objects”. Then I show a scene from the movie Anastasia where all the people are singing this song:
since the (Russian) revolution our lives have been so grey
thank goodness for the gossip that gets us through the day.
Hey, have you heard there's a rumor in St. Petersburg…
I neglected to point out the huge difference between that whole city gossiping versus me refraining from it because I knew it would become obvious later, like right now. It's especially a big sign because by the end of that song the whole city is dancing in perfect choreographed harmony which was a sign of them all being in harmony on the latest gossip. Except in this case it's a picture of all the USA being up on the latest slander of me, it's since I became the National Lampoon as Moby Dick and especially because the right arm of “the powers that be” is the national media. I did my best hard-hitting class against them, (actually God made it because), the media got EX-posed as 666 Evil liars in that 15 minute class L127c www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhXo_j1ZQuw&list=PLVDkjTNqYqh.... Here's what I wrote about it at the first video of my YouTube playlist PL2.
From playlist 1 www.youtube.com/channel/UC3-RWtlOIS_k_TbVkYj_c5Q/playlists.
I'm pretty sure that The Church is entitled to mope, pout & or morn the loss of the old ways before attempting this gear change. That's for the civil feedback but SOME OF THE UNCIVIL FEEDBACK IS SUCH VICIOUS SLANDER of me that it's TO DIE FOR, like the 1995 movie with Nicole Kidman is.
I expose the slander of me and this playlist PL2 at classes L127 and L127c, they are the 11th 19 videos on this PL2. Class L127c is about the 2014 movies NO GOOD DEED & GODZILLA that seem to have been made specifically to slander me and this PL2. To those who say “it's all in your mind, you’re so vain Mike” it reminds me of this quote from Mark Twain, he said "there are lies and there are ‘Damn lies!’ and then there are statistics”. In my case you might change that to say "there are lies and there are ‘Damn lies!’ and then there are the movies NO GOOD DEED & GODZILLA". I was more than a little angry when I said (approximately) “if you can't tell the difference between peace on earth and this playlist PL2 and the movies NO GOOD DEED & GODZILLA than you deserve hell on Earth!”.

You might think it was impossible to avoid both gossip and the media and so would I except that I've succeeded in doing both for 8 years by January 2015. There is a song that asks “how do you think he does it?” it by THE WHO called “that deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean Pinball” at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9NdKS3nQss&list=PLVDkjTNqYqh....
I see a lot of pictures of a person with one finger to their lips as a sign of “don't tell the one” but just remember that for every secret you don't tell me there can be two that God won't tell you. In my prayers I call it “cruel School maximum paybacks”, it's for all the things I could've learned so easily but I had to learn it all the long hard slow way. It is compounded by how generous I am with the information that God gives me to give to you. A good example is the difference between me and my ex-wife, especially in the last 28 years that I just wrote about here. I may look like an old overweight person on welfare but at least I can still look in the mirror without feeling guilty.
United Airbus in new livery. I had plenty of time to photograph planes while I attempted to pass through Washington Reagan at the end of July. My 9pm flight to New York (LGA) was first delayed to 10.20, then 11.45, then 12.30 ... I finally got into bed at 3am. The only thing that could have made it worse was if it had been a four hour wait at Washington Dulles. Severe weather got the blame ... which, when we eventually took off, gave the U.S. Airways crew an excuse to keep the seatbelts signs on for the whole trip even though it was less bumpy than if we had remained on the ground!
Anyone who travels internationally will know that one of the biggest differences between U.S. airlines and everyone else is that everyone else turns the seat belt signs off for most of time, whereas US carriers keep the seat belt signs on for as long as possible (which, of course, leads to a situation where people eventually ignore the signs). Grrrrrr! As was shown on Continental Flight 128 at the beginning of August 09, where there were many injuries when the plane hit unexpected turbulence, people were up and about, ignoring the seat-belt sign. On NON American carriers, the seat belt sign is illuminated when it is needed and if anyone gets out of their seat they are told to go back and buckle their belts. On an American carrier, if the seat belt sign has been left on for hours and there hasn't been any turbulence for hours, not only do people start to ignore the signs, but the flight attendants let them! (And by the way, I'm one of the people who ALWAYS keeps my seat belt fastened while seated).
Operated on behalf of Condor Flugdienst by Avion Express in this stunning livery!
First flown with the Airbus test registration F-WWIV, this aircraft was leased to Spanair as EC-IOH in May-03. Spanair sub-leased it to ArkeFly (TUI Airlines Netherlands) for a month between Aug/Sep-08.
Unfortunately, Spanair suddenly ceased operations in Jan-12 and the aircraft was repossessed by the lessor, re-registered EI-EUB and stored at Dublin.
In Jun-12, it was leased to Livingston Energy Flight (Italy). They ceased operations in Oct-14 and it was returned to the lessor in Dublin. The aircraft was leased to Avion Express (an ACMI leasing specialist) as LY-VEL in Dec-14.
While it was operated by Avion Express it was sub-leased to many different airlines. Vueling Airlines between Mar/Apr-15, Condor Flugdienst between Apr/Nov-15, Dominican Wings between Nov-15/Feb-16, Wow Air (Iceland) between Feb/Mar-16 and Norwegian Air Shuttle between Mar/Apr-16.
It was leased to Thomas Cook Airlines UK in May-16 for the summer season and returned to Avion Express at the end of Oct-16. It was wet-leased to Primera Air Nordic for 10 days in Nov-16 and leased to FlyOne (Moldova) between Dec-16 and Jan-17.
In Feb-17 it ferried to Port-au-Prince (Haiti) for wet-lease to Sunrise Airways. The aircraft returned to Avion Express in Apr-17 and was sub-leased to Thomas Cook Airlines UK for the summer season, returning to Avion Express at the beginning of Nov-17 when it was briefly sub-leased to SunExpress Airlines Germany until mid Dec-17.
A week later the aircraft was leased to Condor Flugdienst. It was briefly transferred to Thomas Cook UK in Apr-18 before returning to Condor Flugdienst for summer 2018. It returned to Avion Express in Nov-18.
The list goes on... Back to Condor, Jan/Mar-19. Norwegian Air Shuttle Apr/May-19. Sun Express (Turkiye) Jun/Oct-19. VietJet Air Dec-19/Feb-20. It was wet-leased to LOT Polish Airlines in Mar-20, then the COVID-19 Pandemic hit the world and it was returned to Avion Express 12 days later.
The aircraft was stored at Kaunas, Lithuania in Apr-20 and didn't return to service until Mar-24 when it was wet-leased to Air Corsica. It returned to Avion Express in early May-24 when it was wet-leased to Transavia Airlines Holland. Current, updated 05-Jun-24.
