A couple days after the Bear Valley Challenge it's like starting at the bottom and looking at a big hill to climb all over again. The first mile I ran an 11:30, this one I just ran about 0.2 then walked 0.05 except the last quarter I ran all the way. A lesson I learned a long time ago in Karate: it doesn't get easier you just have to get stronger... it's coming back to me again.

Servings: 6
Ingredients:
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons avocado oil
• 6 ounces breakfast sausage
• 1 1/2 cups Broccoli stalks, grated
• 1 tablespoon Minced garlic
• ½ teaspoon Ground black pepper
• 6 eggs
• 1/4 cup Heavy cream
• 1 cup Monterey jack cheese, grated
• 1 cup Water
• 1 Green onion sliced
• 1 California avocado, sliced
• ¼ cup Sour cream
Directions:
1. Switch on the instant pot, grease the pot with oil, press the ‘sauté/simmer’ button, and add the sausage and cook until the meat is no longer pink.
2. Then add broccoli along with garlic, season with salt and black pepper and continue cooking for 2 minutes.
3. Take a 7-inch baking dish, grease it with oil, spoon in cooked broccoli mixture and spread evenly.
4. Crack the eggs in a bowl, add cream, whisk until combined, and then add onion and cheese, whisk until mixed, pour the mixture over the sausage mixture and cover with aluminum foil.
5. Press the ‘keep warm’ button, wipe the instant pot clean, pour in water, then insert trivet stand and place baking dish on it.
6. Shut the instant pot with its lid in the sealed position, then press the ‘manual’ button, press ‘+/-’ to set the cooking time to 35 minutes and cook at high-pressure setting; when the pressure builds in the pot, the cooking timer will start.
7. When the instant pot buzzes, press the ‘keep warm’ button, release pressure naturally for 10 minutes, then do quick pressure release and open the lid.
8. Take out the baking dish, uncover it and turn it over the plate to take out the frittata.
9. Top the frittata with avocado, cut into slices and the top with sour cream.

I found this common hawker dragonfly that had only just emerged from its larval case, probably less than an hour before I came across it. The colours were very pale compared to an adult common hawker. I watched it, on and off, for an hour and a half as its body expanded to about twice the size of the larval case (exuvia) and the adult colours slowly intensified. At first, the wings were held close together above the body (photos 1 & 2), then it spread its wings into the normal adult position (photo 3). A couple of minutes after I took the third photo, it took off on its maiden flight. Seen at Lon Mor ponds in the Trossachs.

1. Opened in camera Raw and made the following adjustments:
Temperature -30
Exposure +1.00
Fill Light 65
Blacks 15
Brightness -25
Contrast -50
Clarity +100
Saturation +10
2. Then in Photoshop I used a Levels adjustment Layer on the Blue channel and
set the shadow input adjustment to 35.
3. I spent about 20 minutes on this one.

Raw image saved at -2,-1,0,+1,+2, then brought together in Photomatrix. Then adjusted the blue sky in lightroom giving a ore vivid background.
Needed to sleep here until we could take out fireplace in was is going to be our bedroom on the back. This was originally Bedroom 2 then was going to become our computer room.

Today I worked in the morning, 10-2. Then I went home and packed. We left for New Hampshire around 3:30. We stopped for dinner on the way and found an awesome new pizza place. I really liked the town it was in and would love to go back there to take pictures. We got to the house around 7 and then just hung around for the rest of the day.

2. Then in Photoshop as a Smart Object I used a Shadow/Highlight Filter set to:

Tonal Width: 50%
Radius: 30%
Highlights:
Amount: 25%
Tonal Width: 75%
Radius: 30%
3. I then added a Black 5 pixel Stroke to the edge.
4. I spent about 30 minutes on this.
