looking tired. We got into Iceland at 6 something in the morning after a 5 hour flight. Then they had to get up and do a soundcheck at 2, then an instore, then the big show. I think...thats how it went.
3 images shot using Nikon 50mm f/1.8 @ f/10. Basic adjustments in Aperture 2, then sent to Photoshop to stitch & fine-tune.
95/365 A rainy, rainy day finally, after the week's heat wave! We managed to get out of bed for a morning constitutional before Fishy Class Day 2, then had a fun class where we both wondered if we were ready to get back to needlepointing more again? Then it was a regular Sunday afternoon -- Rummikub with bagels, Stardew (Lunavelt got to his 1M Guatloo goal to get the desert obelisk, but then discovered he had no cactus flowers or coconuts), and knitting, because P is making an amazing Thursday Murder Cuff, and S is motoring on Baby Puff(in). Then we had chili for dinner and watched the Bernies lose to the Yankees in a game where they threw 10.2 innings of no-hit ball. Yeesh. But in more exciting news, S finished seaming Alpaca Pacino!!! And we love it so much that we both promptly bought more of this yarn for different sweaters, because yeah, we're totally back to needlepointing again? (S looks EXACTLY like the model in the picture on the pattern for this, too.)
A little story I want to share with you'll. Clockwise from the top left. This is a story of a mother cow and her little calf. As we were walking along this farm, we heard a little calf calling out for her mom, in response her mom replies that she is coming to get her, and the mom then comes back to the calf , the 2 then walk back, the calf now comforted by her mom. It was such a touchy sight. Thought I would share this with all the ever loving, always giving Moms of the world. Happy Mother's day, once again. Thank you Mom.

How can I turn off Norton in Windows for a while?
Antivirus security can get in the way of users' tasks at times.

These are linen samples I dyed with madder.
On the left is bleached 20/1 linen, the middle is 20/2 linen, and the right is undyed 20/2 for comparison.
The linen was mordanted in alum and cream of tartar for 2 hours, then dyed with heat for 2 hours, off heat for 10 hours, then on heat for another 5 hours, then off for 2, then washed and dried.
I'm fairly pleased with how the middle sample came out.
1. First we stripped off the turf and laid it to one side
2. Then we dug up one spit of topsoil and laid to the other side
3. Then we dug up a second spit of soil (mostly clay and stones) and barrowed away
Chion-in (知恩院 Chion-in) in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Japan is the headquarters of the Jōdo-shū (Pure Land Sect) founded by Hōnen (1133–1212), who proclaimed that sentient beings are reborn in Amida Buddha's Western Paradise (Pure Land) by reciting the nembutsu, Amida Buddha's name.
The vast compounds of Chion-in include the site where Hōnen settled to disseminate his teachings and the site where he died.

The original temple was built in 1234 by Hōnen's disciple, Genchi (1183–1238) in memory of his master and was named Chion-in. While the temple was affiliated more closely in the early years with the Seizan branch of Jodo Shu, its 8th head priest, Nyoichi (1262–1321) was deeply influenced by the priest Ryōkū, a disciple of Ryōchū who was the 3rd head of the Chinzei branch of Jōdo-shū Buddhism, and disciple of Benchō. Later Nyoichi's successor Shunjō (1255–1355) advanced this further by citing a biography where Genchi's disciple Renjaku-bo and Ryōchū agree that there existed no doctrinal differences between them:[1][2]
Then Renjaku-bo said, "There is complete agreement between what Genchi and Bencho say in their basic teaching. So my disciples should from now on look at the Chinzei teaching as their own. There is no need to set up another school."
By 1450, Chion-in had become fully under control of the Chinzei branch, but had little direct control, due to the outbreak of the Ōnin War.[1] Numerous buildings in the complex were burnt down in 1633, but were entirely rebuilt by the third Tokugawa shōgun Iemitsu (1604–1651) with the palatial structures that stand today.

Winchester Cathedral. Raw file used an opened as a DNG three times in photoshop. (each time i set a different exposure -2,0,+2). Then exported to photomatix where they were merged and tone mapped. Finally exported to photoshop for the final touch.

60092 DB Cargo passing Scunthorpe Signal Box on 0T00 local shunt to aid driver learning around Scunthorpe sidings. During this move it weaved from Scunthorpe Anchor, through Trent Yard to Scunthorpe station, then onto good yard road 2, then onto the head shunt before running back via the goods to Trent Yard.
Aug. 11, 2011: The Ames Monument in Wyoming photographed in 2010. Used DynaLight HD. Then in PhotoToaster used technocolor and torn edge border. In PhotoStudio made a version with Bumpmapping 2. Then in blender, the bumpmapped version combined with the previous PhotoToaster version in hardlight blend. Back in DynaLight HD lightened and used sepia. Then in ArtistaOil used oil portrait 05. Final stop was back in photogene to sharpen.
Angel taking on the Bugi. She was supposed to count to 3 then jump. Well, my wife only counted to 2 then jumped. I had to follow that!!

Kentmere 100 film. Developed in a homebrew Caffenol type developer using dried leaves of the above plant in place of coffee. Mastruz (as it is known in Brazil) can be grown from seed or bought as a dried herb for culinary or medicinal use. Here in the UK it is often sold as "epazote".
Ingredients:
Two and a half 15ml spoons (tablespoons) dried mastruz
One 40ml measure washing soda crystals
Two level teaspoons pure vitamin C powder
Water
Method used:
1. add about 75ml water to the dried mastruz and put in a microwaveable glass jug
2. microwave on full power until the liquid boils and froths a little (about 1 minute). give it a swirl and let it steep a couple of minutes. pour off the liquid into another container leaving as many leaves behind as possible.
3. add 50ml water to the jug with the now soggy leaves and repeat stage 2. then do it one more time with another 50ml.
4. dissolve the washing soda crystals in about 100ml of very hot water.
5. pour the liquid "mastruz tea" through a filter paper into a 300ml measuring cylinder, it should come up to about 175ml.
6. pour the washing soda solution into the 300ml measuring cylinder.
7. add the vitamin C powder, it will produce a bit of foam and then subside.
8. top up to 300ml with water and stir it thoroughly.
9. if you want you can filter the liquid again to be sure there are no particles or undissolved crystals in it.
10. let it cool to 22 degrees C
11. develop the film for 6 minutes*
12. rinse the tank with a few changes of water before fixing as normal, washing and drying the film.
*although the film containing the above photo was developed 6 mins, it was effectively being pulled about 1 stop here and next time if shot at ISO 100 box speed I would try developing it for 10 mins.

First built in 1937, the Piper J-3 earned fame as a trainer and sport plane. Its success made the name "Cub" a generic term for light airplanes. The little yellow tail dragger remains one of the most recognized designs in aviation. J-3 Cubs and subsequent models are still found at fields around the world. Thousands of pilots, including three-fourths of those in the Civilian Pilot Training Program, trained in Cubs.
William T. Piper and Piper Aircraft are one of general aviation's greatest success stories. Piper took Gilbert Taylor's Tiger Kitten and E-2 designs and, with Walter Jamoneau, built the Taylor and Piper J-2, then the legendary Piper J-3. When production ended in 1947, 19,888 Piper Cubs had been built. This Cub was built in 1941 and accumulated more than 6,000 hours of flying time before being restored in 1975.

My mother was diagnosed from breast cancer around two years ago and now she is fully cured after 8 chemotherapy and 30 radiotherapies.
