Corvette ZR-2 I found in Prince Edward County. It's a rare car, an experiment, with a GM Marine 454 under the hood, and a bunch of other goodies. Check out the rest of the set for details, and there's a full write up in the set description.
Make: Philmar

Title: No. 2 i. Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip ii. The Royal Family
Series: Jubilee Jigsaw Puzzle
Pieces: 500 (20 x 25).
Size: 20” x 15”. 51 x 38 cms.

Bar Code: -
Origin: Great Britain.
Portrait study by Karsh of Ottawa and Desmond Groves.
This might be only the third double-sided jigsaw that I have put together, and possibly the most difficult when it comes to discerning which picture the upward side of the piece belongs to.
I had decided to build picture ii, the family group, as I thought that might be the simpler of the two and seemed to have more lighter areas in the frame. So after laying out all of the pieces as they came out of the box they were divided into three groups: those clearly from picture i., those clearly from picture ii., and indeterminates.
Those from picture i. were flipped and joined the picture ii. group and the indeterminates were flipped to see if the reverse side was more identifiable. The sort process from above was repeated with those that had indeterminate pictures on both sides ultimately being placed the right way up by touch – one picture is cut from the top and one from underneath so the edges gave a slightly different feel to them.
Construction began with the outline, and the interior was filled in a fairly piecemeal fashion, beginning with the carpet at the bottom of the picture and the relatively blank wall at the top of the picture. Faces and hands were obvious, as was the red dress and the cushion on the chair.
In the end I worked down to the murky areas and flipped the semi-complete puzzle, and remaining pieces, then fitted those using the picture of the couple.
Philmar seemed to make an effort with this release, with thicker card than normal and pieces that fit together well, albeit loosely. Unfortunately the cutting tool wasn’t as sharp as it needed to be and a previous owner hasn’t always been too careful when separating pieces, resulting in damage to the picture on the ‘bottom’ of the pieces.
Although the box is undated, this presumably dates from 1977 or shortly afterwards as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations for the Royal Family.
From the end of the box, Companion title:
i. Her Majesty the Queen ii. Prince Philip

I have just had an interview with Professor Annandale and seen a letter from Miss S ... ........ Manchester asking for opinion as to Mr Whalley's state of mind (suppose ...... ) Mr Annandale knew Mr Whalley and last saw him in the autumn of 1880. Mr Annandale said he never met with a man more firm and clear in his life. he gave me a vivid description of the operation performed on Mr Whalley Dec 27 1864 and said .... he has never met with a man before (like?) him (so?) strong will and clear in his intellect (?) and said to

Day 30, Year 2
I'm slowly sort out my new desk at work. Even though there are boxes piled high around my desk it's turning out to be a pleasant place to work, much quieter than my old office on Level 5.
It will be a relief when the shelves and proper furniture arrives… whenever that'll be.
Lists:
1. I realize I've had similar tonage these past few days. I go through phases.
2. I realize I'm behind. I'll catch up.
3. Okay. So. Story. Today our choir went to the opera in Chicago. It was good, fun day, show was nothing spectacular. But we took the train.
4. Summer is for trains. In the summer I take the train out as often as I can to go visit my friends in Franklin Park, because we live oh so far away, and I miss them oh so very much. So this is taken from the train station, although we normally ride in passenger cars rather than these babies.
5. I realize that I've been getting so behind, and it's hard to build back momentum, and I probably shouldn't embark on a real 365 journey just yet.. too much of a commitment. I'll finish March up, though.
Happy trails.

I have used pallet boards for this sign. Given the nature of these boards, each sign has its own unique flaws that add to the character of the finished product as far as I am concerned but can cause some bleeding of the paint. It has a twine hanger for easy hanging.

Fonts: Clipper Script, Cricut Sans.
I cannot tell you if these fonts were on my computer or if I downloaded them from Dafont. I may also have stretched/pulled/letter spaced, line spaced etc – I didn’t keep track of that.
Paint colors: White flat paint from the Co-op, Burnt Umber by Acrylique, Rumors by Behr Marquee.
Extra info: Painted board Semi Precious (base coat) and allowed to dry overnight. Brush Elmer's Glue-All on top of base coat - a thicker coat results in larger cracks - apply a thinner coat for fine cracks. While glue is tacky, brush on Sheepskin (top coat). Dry completely. Sand and add words. Sand again.
I crackled the paint using Elmer’s Glue-All glue – found instructions on Pinterest. You can find this sign in my album with it’s info. On a PC go to my Here’s Your Sign FB page, click on Photos on the left side then Here’s Your Sign album across the top and that should open it. I missed taking a photo yesterday, which was day 2; I didn't get out there early in the morning, then it got hot (I mean hot!) and I forgot about taking the picture until it was too late. Anyway, this is from this morning.
I think it is very unlikely that the fourth egg will hatch. I do hope these nestlings will be okay in the heat wave, of which there is no end in sight.

Box 1 is the best box of commercial I have bought and only for €2. I suspect the great sizing is due to paper pulp shortage so they are just not sorting them as much.
Box 3 was a disaster from the moment I picked up the egg. Egg all over the box. Broke before I got it with shell pieces stuck to box bottom. I hate total failures like that.
Box 5 had a cracked 74.8g! & 75.5g, a fantastic and rare size and the damm things has impact damage from the shop!
6 cracked eggs! including 1 total failure and resultant mess. Not sure what to do with the fails as that 5 cracked eggs there with 3 in the 70g range. If I had my car & world was normal I would go and buy ingredients for a double mushroom & egg burger. A lovely tasty way to use the eggs to my liking. To waste such an experience is vile. Sodd this covid crap.
All these really prove why I want to have some sort of scales I could wear in glove or something so I could just get the best. She has bought these box with weights of 693.5g that is 166.1g less than Box 1 today thats like 3 low weight medium eggs of a difference or 2.5 large eggs! Scale and the no shake test is VERY important.
So, as I'm getting ready to jet off elsewhere, I've spent some time actually opening some boxes before flying off again.
In addition to the Black Canary that I mangled, I brought back three additional Bishoujo statues - Black Widow (version 2 I believe), Wonder Woman (Standard Edition), and Power Girl, all of which came with a box, and was most of the reason I had to actually mail stuff home.
Without getting into specifics yet. the overall rating, as it were, for these range from good to average. You'll notice on all of them, as usual, there's some deviation from the source art. Sometimes is subtle, like with Widow and Power Girl, but with Wonder Woman it changes the feeling and energy of the statue completely. More than anything else, this is what makes or breaks the statue for me.
Starting with Black Widow, I believe the first version of her is the one without the wall, as this version is in scale with modern Bishoujo (earlier releases were 1/8). You have the loose Daredevil mask that is used as a piece on the base, and your choice of either an empty hand or her sniper rifle, while her other hand is balanced on the top of the worlds shortest brick wall.
The deviation between this and its art is probably the least of the three statues, mainly the head tilt and a bit of the hair detailing gone missing. The overall body and outfit look about right. Sculpting detailing is as expected, which includes the hands, though the Sniper Rifle hand has this plastic support on the palm, which is unfortunate though it is hidden.
Paint is generally good, but I don't understand why her hair is two tone, and not in the good way - the bangs are noticable darker than the back of her head. It would be idiotic if this was due to different plastic used because, well, it's a $90 USD statue. Metallic paint apps are sublime. Build wise, nothing major to report, though there's not exactly a whole lot of parts here. Most noticeable gap is on the hair, but otherwise, everything else is assembled and finished nicely.

Day 93, Year 2
I spent most of the day at work sorting through my marking but didn't get it finished. Oh well.
At home, Celyn was in a great mood with the end of term and a weeks holidays ahead. His drawing is getting better and better every day and he's really starting to get experimental. With no prompting at all from us he usually does three or four sketches a day.

I don't even know what I was going for in this shot, but right as the timer was about to fire, some shadow moved over my head and it startled me. So, this is me, trying to hold a pose and being startled at the same time.
I have no idea what caused the shadow that startled me. There was nothing there.
