Coburg Hills Take 2!
I revisited these hills after work. This time I was trying to reduce the noise levels from the last time I photographed them. I remembered to bring down the ISO. I tended to overexpose then adjust the RAW file. I still am not too happy with the results. So I will probably revisit with the next cloudy morning.
P - potato
I bought potatoes because they were cheap and I like them. However, I didn't know what to make so I looked in one of my cookbooks. In The Manga Cookbook, I found jagatama (potato salad balls) and decided to give it a shot. Food was good although the photo didn't turn out the way I wanted (depth of field needs some work). Maybe I should've cleaned up first.
I decided to use the lyrics of the "Banana and Potato" song from the Despicable Me 2 trailer because I thought one of the minions said, "Potato salad". Really it was just a bunch of gibberish.
For my Unit 2 I chose to do Personal Possessions,
the last few shoots I did were based on the human body.
My thought process for this was the fact that the body
is the biggest and most important possession to take ownership
of. For the first part of this I wanted to focus on Eating Disorders
and the 'Size Zero' lifestyle we live in today. I studied a photographer
named Fritz Liedtke, specifically I studied his ' Skeletons in the Closet'
project which depicted intimate portraits of women and men struggling
with the secrets of anorexia and bulimia.
For the first shoot of this series I wanted it to have a double meaning.
I didn't just want someone to see an eating disorder, I wanted them
to see the effects it could have on someone. The skeletal part of the
model represents the secret of it all, the skeleton in the closet, where
as the 'normal' side represents the fact that it can be regular people
who are affected by this disease. I then added a texture over the top
to give the image a grunge type appearance which is a technique
Fritz Liedtke uses in his photographs.

I’ve Been “Tagged”
1.I’m 52 years old. I will be 53 on September 11. No one knew exactly when my birthday was until that day in 2001 when the world changed.
2.I started working when I was 19 years old for what was then “Penelec” and have seen a lot of changes thru the years to where the company is now a part of FirstEnergy Corp. You can do the math as to how long I have been working. I am fortunate to have survived many downsizing and still work in the same building complex as when I started so many years ago.
3.Much of my career I worked with Harry Hunt (he turned me on to Flickr) so we go way back.
4.I live in rural western Pennsylvania near the Quemahoning Dam on the family homestead. I was fortunate to purchase 18 acres so I have a part of my history. Most of my time now is spent taking care of my 82 year old mother who lives with me.
5.I began taking photographs around 30 years ago when I bought my first camera, a Vivitar 2200SL. I still have the camera and use it occasionally. Also have approximately 3 dozen antique and other cameras.
6.Other activities include golfing and hiking (not as much as I’d like to). Gardening and cooking. Love hot peppers and grow them every summer. Also do woodworking. I remember going to the local High School with my dad when he built furniture in their shop. Must be where I picked that up.
7.Used to ride bicycles with a group of friends. We used to go on rides in Lancaster County, PA and other places. I remember the time Harry and the others left me to die on the trail. (Ask Harry about this. He likes telling the stories).
8.I used to take wedding photos but have gotten out of that and just take portraits and photos for me now. I love the digital cameras so now I can enhance them myself.
9.I’ve met some good friends on Flickr and get so many ideas from the photos posted. I need to get to West Virginia soon to take some photos of all the waterfalls I see.
10.Almost forgot, I started to download my album collection to CD. It will take quite some time to complete but it will be worth it.
This is Electric Sun #2. I've started using some gold and am playing with more copper and oxidizing. I love the overall effect. It sold yesterday too, and there are requests so I have to get working!

I am grateful to have the chance to learn about plants and their medicinal qualities. Skullcap is an herb that has helped me tremendously. I was delighted to discover that there is a skullcap that is native to Arizona and is being grown by Desert Survivors Nursery in Tucson that also carries the medicinal qualities of it's better know relatives. It is a beautiful little plant that flowers during May and through the summer and then disappears during the winter. It reseeds and finds it's own special places among the rocks of my garden. It does well on the north side and with afternoon shade and requires more water than the local, native plants.

October 2: I have decided to bin the straighteners and embrace the natural kinkiness of my hair. After a trip to the hairdressers, it turns out my hair is wilder than I realised after years of wearing it straight. Eeek. Can't decide if I love it more than I thought possible, or whether I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Maybe both.

Part 1 of 2 - I don't typically upload in parts anymore. This time is because on Tuesday the 6th, my area was hit by nasty storms and tornadoes and I don't have internet, so uploading more than 40 pictures on a hotspot is next to impossible. So within a week or two, the second batch will be published with all the pictures from Waldameer!
Please contact me via FlickrMail, or on Gmail if you'd like to use any of my photographs.

Owen turned out pretty good in Mass Effect 2. I loved that I was able to custom color his armor into white and blue so it looks like the colors of his every day outfit. Mordin is cute. He's kind of a Cope like character.

I was really scared to try these, but they were actually a blast to make! Three Little Pumpkins sent me a paper piecing pattern for them. I ended up tracing the pattern and used Oh Fransson!'s method for using freezer paper (found here: www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2009/07/map-of-the-states-...) to cut them out and piece them. They were actually pretty easy this way. :)
Thank you Three Little Pumpkins for the pattern! You saved me! ;)

Taking this picture a couple of hours after image 2 (I had stopped for lunch). Then as I continued on my way this sideview caught my eye and I had to shoot one last image even though it wasn't in the best of light being around noon time.
10 unknown things about you. If you're tagged, post it, and tag others. :)
1. In reality I am unapologetically sarcastic.
2. I hate it when people assume that just because my mom is a complete and utter hippie, I am too. There's not necessarily anything wrong with it, I'm just not one.
3. I'm more than a little bit obsessed with justice. Which sounds really weird when I word it that way. But I am. Things as small as people gossiping when they don't know the facts will set me off and I can't calm down until it's been set straight.
4. I want to live underwater.
5. I'm not entirely sure how to stop reality from being so unsatisfactory and boring.
6. A very large portion of my friends are guys; and as a result, most of my female friends think I'm flirty. Actually, people, I'm friends with guys because I want to GET AWAY from attitudes like that, and away from all the drama. (Not all of my female friends are like this, obviously.)
7. I don't date.
8. I love outer space <3
9. I have a phobia of larger-than-life objects. It's very strange. There used to be a large plaster statue of a whale's tail outside the children's museum, and I couldn't even look at it. It's a really freaking weird phobia. I'm also petrified by heights, spiders, clowns, circular indentions, occasionally older men, diseases and guns (when other people have them.)
10. If I have the house to myself, I run around singing old Disney songs and pretending I'm on stage.
365 Days - Day 2
I like where I live. I mean to say both the property that my house sits on and the wider community in which it sits. Five acres allows us to have some sense of privacy and plenty of room to take a walk when needed.
+ ISFJ Anita (Gossip Queen #2) (I drive a BMW!) (Oh, Bronson you are so handsome and you look like [fill in the blank].)
+ Brenda's 2nd Husband (INFP Indian)
+ Ralph Shaw (INFJ) (Bronson's Cousin) (Manager at Food Lion) (Portland, TN): Our girl Brenda Johnson (INFP) wants her African American husband again! Instead of Carlos Shaw (Ralph's Dad) (INFP), now it's Bronson Johnson (ENTP)!
Your Dad's fiancée (INFP Caucasian Trailer Park Chick) put my dog, Cho Cho in her purse at Granny Cookies (ISFJ) house and tried to run away with it. I'm very well aware that she sucked your Dad's finances dry, while he was alive and after he passed away. Leaving you with nothing. good thing you have a hard work ethic. Do your best to save your money for rainy days. Your biological mom is an INFP, i've only seen her grab a few plates of food at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then run out the door. She is very kind. YOU, are welcome here! We'd love to take you around DC. Bronson sees you as a brother and you are a wonderful cousin-in-law. I hope you are enjoying riding your Harley Davidson!

This photo satisfies requirement 2. I shot the main stem of a large tree and used a large shutter speed of 0.5 seconds to have a motion-blurred effect. I moved the camera in a curved manner so that the blurred image looks natural and cool. While the stem is rigid, this motion blur makes it looks like a storm that is smooth. I used a large focal length to have a high magnification to the stem patterns. I used shutter speed priority mode to automatically set the aperture to have enough exposure.
