1. Follow the instructions (included in green) and add your new content. In the first section, provide a short introduction which tells the student what the learning object is about, and what learning outcomes they will achieve.

2. Include readings notes to provide students with underpinning knowledge where appropriate. Note that this need not be long and detailed text (ie. electronic textbooks).

You could save time by using tools like TaLE and Wikipedia to locate online material to provide engaging information to your students. Simply include hyperlinks to the appropriate websites.

Diura bicaudata stonefly by Southerndale Beck near Skiddaw, 13 May 19.

As the forecast for the day was very promising I thought I'd have a third go at collecting a Diura bicaudata stonefly from a suitable lakeland site, ie a stony stream at an altitude of over 300m. Southerndale Beck between Skiddaw and Ullock Pike seemed like a good choice as there's a convenient parking spot near High Side and it's only a 35-minute drive away.

Despite the fact that there's no footpath it turned out to be an excellent route and it was possible to follow the stream quite closely, and check out the rocks along most of the climb, without too much difficulty (see later photos). Although it took over three hours, I did eventually find a single specimen at an altitude of 385m - and on this occasion it stayed put for long enough for me to get a decent in situ shot before ushering it into a container (Photo 1).

The remaining photos were taken later in the day using the integral camera on my SX10D microscope. Photo 2 includes a length measurement, Photo 3 shows the head/pronotum and a dorsal view of the end of the abdomen, and Photo 4 both of the forewings.

Note on identification: Identified as a Perlodidae from Hynes (Ref 1) which unlike the simplified AIDGAP key avoids reference to wings for this species. Colouring and the fact that the male is not fully winged and the tenth tergum is not longitudinally divided means that the specimen must be either Perlodes mortoni or Diura bicaudata. The dorsal view of the lower abdomen (Photo 3, right) is a decent match to that shown in Hynes Fig 16E for the latter and differs noticeably for that shown in Fig 16C for the former. Both forewings are shown in Photo 4 and neither is a good overall match to either of the reference sketches shown in Figures 6B and 6D for the two species. However, in the area of interest (tip of the wing near the costa) Diura bicaudata is judged to be the better fit. Finally, the altitude of the sighting is consistent with the Hynes specification for Diura bicaudata, ie above 1000ft (305m), but marginally beyond the limit specified for Perlodes mortoni, ie up to about 1200 ft (366m).

Apache Spark continues to gain momentum as the new processing paradigm for Apache Hadoop, and for the data scientist, it has a lot to like: natively distributed, REPL, Python APIs in addition to native Scala, and a library of machine learning algorithms, MLlib. Spark 1.2 includes an implementation of random decision forests, an important and popular ensemble classifier/regressor algorithm.

Arriving at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford from the main entrance on Beaumont Street.

The day of our visit, there was a nearby fun fair on St Giles' and Magdalen Street, so some local roads were closed to traffic, but open to pedestrians.

The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology on Beaumont Street, Oxford, England, is Britain's first public museum. Its first building was erected in 1678–1683 to house the cabinet of curiosities that Elias Ashmole gave to the University of Oxford in 1677. It is also the world's second university museum, after the establishment of the Kunstmuseum Basel in 1661 by the University of Basel.

The present building was built between 1841 and 1845. The museum reopened in 2009 after a major redevelopment, and in November 2011, new galleries focusing on Egypt and Nubia were unveiled. In May 2016, the museum also opened redisplayed galleries of 19th-century art.

2. Includes No 41 Beaumont street. The combined building housing the Taylor Institution and the original "University Galleries" (now incorporated as the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archeology) occupies the site on the corner of St Giles's Street and Beaumont Street. It was built in 1841-45 to the Neo-Greek designs of Charles Robert Cockerell in Bath (Box Ground) stone on a plinth of Permian sandstone with the columns, pilasters and entablatures of Portland stone and decorations in terra-cotta. The Taylor Institution forming the East wing was founded, built and endowed by Sir Robert Taylor. The Ashmolean Museum, forming the central range and the West wing, has been altered and extended in 1892-5, 1900, 1908, 1923-8, 1933 and 1937-40. The most recent of these extensions (1939-40) giving a farther frontage on Beaumont Street was built in Clipsham stone for the rusticated ground floor, with Bath (Monks Park) stone for the upper storeys, to the design of E. Stanley Hall.
