A Arriva Trains Wales class 175 (175007) heading on to the Marches Line at Maindee Junction, on 1W18 1510 Swansea to Chester.

Day 175 of 365. Usually when I ask small children to do a certain pose for me, they give a really funny and interesting interpretation of them. But only when they're in a good mood. So usually it takes a few minutes of mood-building and persuasion before the shoot. If I succeed, you get poses such as this one by my lovely niece, Tara.

Scream, Tara! Scream! And the Oscar goes to.. Tara :D

Her brother, Fari, poses as the creepy shadow behind the blinds.

WB shifted to tungsten for the bluish tone.

Strobist info: 1 SB800 outside behind me, aimed inside the room (radio trigger M 1/4), 1 SB800 held by VAL camera left snooted towards Tara, and missed *sigh* (SU-4 M 1/128)

Finally have an evening of quiet now that the house guests have left.

Class 175 at Gowerton station

People in the neighborhood tell me the lot where a medical building now stands was once a car dealership. Part of the medical building parking lot is an older asphalt parking lot. It is now overgrown with trees sprouting up.

It is amazing the power of the sprouting trees as they push up through the asphalt and break into the sun.

The Daily Shoot assignment for 2010/06/24:

Make a photo of elements that are strikingly different from one another to add tension and interest to your composition.

We drove from Aberdeen to Rochester - about 440 miles in total, sharing the driving. On the way up, we stayed at the Highland Gate hotel in Stirling, just off the M80, next to a Marston's Inn. We decided to stop there on the way back for a big breakfast at 10am. In Peterborough, there is another Marston's Inn, the Moorhen, where we stopped for food and a break before hitting the M11 and M25. The Moorhen is next to a lake which is part of a Sustainable Drainage System - SuDS, which is home to geese, swans, moorhens, and ducks.

West Shed, Midland Rialway - Butterley, UK I could well have travelled on this bus in 1960s from Alfreton. I remember them at the bus station.

Bath Time

I saw this hawk perched on 2 different cars close to my house. On my way to Sheboygan, it was gone, but a bit further down the road I saw it taking a bath in this puddle. I'm not sure if it was injured or just wanted to hang around the neighborhood for a bit. After taking a few shots, it flew away.
