Today I decided to redo yesterday's as it was still raining and yesterday's picture was pretty sloppy. This one's much better:)

Today I went to my piano lesson and afterwards, went to Michael's and splurged a little on new watercolors (dry pats, wet tubes, and watercolor pencils) and also one piece of gigantic watercolor paper that I cut into two pieces to have a semi-normal size. I began on a surreal watercolor, a profile of a girl. I'm really happy with the way it's coming out!

April 1st.

I borrowed one of the school's Canon 550D's and took photos around the school. I found this empty Poliakov bottle in the grass and played around with it. The 550D is incredibly easy to use.

Oh hey, I just skipped a day there, number 174 - march 31st. It's a film one. Coming soon.

Der Name der späteren Stadt Monschau wird erstmalig im Jahre 1198 erwähnt. Die Burg ist, wenn auch der Hallerturm auf der gegenüberliegenden Höhe als Vorwerk vermutlich schon früher errichtet wurde, die UrzeIle der Stadt. Ungewiß ist auch, ob Walram von Limburg die Burg erbaut hat oder bereits um 1135, als die Burg Reichenstein in ein Doppelkloster der Prämonstratenser umgewandelt wurde, eine Burg auf der das Rurtal beherrschenden Anhöhe stand. Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts wurde die Herrschaft Monschau nebst Falkenburg an das Haus Schönforst verkauft..

Sie kam nach dem Tode Johann III. von Schönforst-Montjoie 1433 an Jülich. Bei der Gelderschen Fehde 1543 wurden Burg und Stadt von den Truppen Karl V. beschossen und eingenommen. Monschau blieb bis 1609 im Besitz von Jülich. 1614 kam es an Pfalz-Neuburg und 1685 an die Kurpfalz..

1795 zogen die französischen Truppen ein. Monschau wurde Sitz eines Kantons; 1816 Montjoie preußische Kreisstadt des nach ihm benannten Kreises. Die Tuchindustrie aus dem 16. Jahrhundert brachte Montjoie zu hoher Blüte, wovon stolze Tuchmacherpaläste, prächtige Bürgerhäuser mit großem Wohlstand und herrliche Kirchen heute noch zeugen. Zu besichtigen ist das heutige Museum "Rotes Haus", gelegen inmitten des historischen Stadtkerns..

Im Jahre 1918 wurde durch kaiserlichen Erlaß der Name Montjoie in Monschau geändert.
