Today we watched an interesting video at our large group meeting. Some begged to differ but I enjoyed it :)
It was the NOOMA video by Rob Bell talking about how one passes off "I'm busy" for not doing something. They are so busy sometimes that life passes them by.
He made an interesting analogy in the short film about his family vacation on a beach. His son was picking up seashells when suddenly he spotted the largest starfish ever! Rob encouraged his son to go get it. He runs into the water... but quickly dashes back... then he tries again, doesn't make it quite deep, and runs back... makes a third try and fails again... Why didn't he just grab the starfish? His hands were full of seashells.
Do we sometimes have too many seashells in our hands that we can't grab hold of what's really important in our lives?
Or maybe one is collecting all these seashells thinking they would somehow give you a starfish. Get my flow? Maybe sometimes we are doing a million things in pursuit of Happiness, when Happiness is just right there around the corner, being passed by us. Seashells are completely different from Starfish.
This happens often in ministries. We get so caught up in logistics that we forget to pursue God. Which is why we were there in the first place.
my life lately. this is from cheerleading...swear i wasnt beaten. haha wish i could collage together all of the bruises i have on my body right now. it is intense.
