Nová Ves u Kolína ll 162 113-5 is hauling an unusually assembled train RJ 1044 on the Bratislava hl. st. – Praha hl. n. route. In the middle of the consist, the Traxx 388 207-3 locomotive can be seen. As of today, locomotives of the 162 series no longer operate any regular RegioJET services, as they are undergoing modernization and conversion into the 362 series.

I was looking for some rolling hills that would make for great layers.. But things are so flat around Greater Toronto Area!!!!

On January 26, 1992, class 113 services were pretty new on the track no. 960 from Munich to Mittenwald (today refered to as Werdenfelsbahn). The locos were only recently trasferred from Hamburg to Munich. So, we went in the hills to take some pictures in the fresh snow. 113 266 will soon arrive in Klais on its way to Mittenwald.

Having reached the end of its 18 mile southbound run, 113 cut off the south end of their train and is seen running around light between the RBMN's locomotive and car shop buildings. After coupling up to the north end they will pull north up the mainlin to the turntable to be spun before leading the train back north a bit later.
Home of the RBMN's corporate offices, dispatching center, locomotive shop, and covered train shed for their OCS equipment Port Clinton is a railfan's delight with props galore like this signal bridge and the juxtaposition of old and new in the form of a switch stand with a modern bow handle and old school colored lantern target. Now fully equipped with a CTC signaled mainline there was virtually nothing here in 1996 when the RBMN chose this site for their new centralized headquarters and shop complex. When the Reading Cluster was acquired from Conrail in 1990 the only thing to be found in this spot was a lonely unsignaled switch in the middle of the woods. What has risen truly is impressive and if you've not seen it for yourself I do recommend that you do!
As for 113, she is a 1923 product of Alco's Schnectady works. Purportedly among the largest and heaviest class of 0-6-0 switchers ever built she is also one of only two surviving Central of New Jersey steam locomotives and the only one in operation, having returned to live in 2013 after a half century cold. Added to that rarity she is also the only anthracite burning locomotive currently in operation making her quite special on many levels. 1144 113 und 1116 064 waren mit einem gemischten Güterzug am 29. Oktober 2024 bei Pfaffenschwend in Richtung Wörgl unterwegs.
When I planned this little trip to see CNJ 113this spot was THE shot I wanted above all others. This was a special charity fundraising event that would see the beefy steam switcher making an approximately 18 mile trip south over the RBMN's (former Reading Company) Minersville and Pottsville branches to the railroad's headquarters community where the locomotive would be turned on the turntable to lead back north.
I'd shot 425 here at about MP 82.2 on modern day RBMS's Pottsville Branch in brilliant sun before as seen in this post: flic.kr/p/2kNCrvo and the lighting would have been perfect. And in fact it was when everyone got here but the train ended up running well over an hour late and by then it clouded over and was starting to rain. At first I was disappointed, but this shot has really kind of grown on me with the saturated wet leaves and decent smoke and steam plume wafting through trusses of the abandoned ex Pennsy Schuylkill Division branch. A bit over a mile of the latter actually survives nearby as the RBMN's Auburn Running track reaching one customer and used for car storage.
