WM Buses Leyland National II 1021 DOC 21V, devoid of fleetnames after a partial repaint, is seen heading through Acocks Green on 21.10.95 on service 37 to Solihull. It was later sold to North Western and Highland Country.

Note, 1021 was named THE GREATER MANCHESTER RADIO in November 1993. The name was removed in December 2003 to allow it to be named SONY CENTRE ARNDALE on 20th December 2003. The name was removed in December 2006 to allow it to be named STARLIGHT EXPRESS on 3rd December 2006, the name being removed in August 2007. It was modified from a T68 to a T68X tram in February 2010, and was withdrawn from passenger service on 6th November 2013 but retained for ice-breaking duties until 21st January 2014. It was sold for scrap to C.F. Booth Limited, departing Manchester on 29th October 2014

One of the most intriguing parts of the whole airport to me was this series of clocks. All of the following were taken around the same time (that is, during probably a half hour of meandering). There were about a dozen all told.

Probably one of the most charismatic diesel locomotives ever produced (in my opinion).
Short lived, yes
Non-standard (with the rest of the BR network), yes
Hydraulic, yes
Powerful, yes
Were they a pain to maintain, reliable, and expensive to run....I don't know !
