1021 passes Newbury racecourse with 1A19 the up Cornish riviera express as the sun dips below the horizon.Another Perutz phot which had l used Kodachrome 64 would have come out better,25 of course being out of the question.Wanted to capture the setting sun to maximum effect and give the loco a bit of silhouette to it plus get the most light, hence the taken from a hole in the ground look.Wish l had taken it slightly later but then l suppose it might be a bit blurred as it wasn't hanging about.
Seen from the footbridge. Western Cavalier was trailing a fair bit of clag in my direction.
I got two other views from this location but think this is the best of them.
John Timothy Stone came to Estes Park in
1909 to speak at the Rocky Mountain YMCA Student
Conference. About 1915, he built a log and stone cabin overlook
-ing Glacier Basin and the Front Range. Simply named The
Study, Dr. Stone used this place as a getaway from his busy life
as minister at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, from the Lula Dorsey Museum historical guide.

Seen on Princes Street is former London Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL 1021 - LXZ5406. New as BF60UVG.
Former Merseyside PTE Atlantean 1021 was given a short run-out through Liverpool's docklands today and is seen here arriving at Albert Dock.
At a little over 10 metres, shorter than our standard Gemini's, Volvo B9TL / Wright Eclipse Gemini 2, number 1021 (LXZ 5406) is seen in Frederick Street, still wearing its Festival Fringe advertisement.
I do like the geometric livery design with the gold line taking the eyes very easily from the rear all the way along the side and up to the front end upper deck. The advert board is better too without that T shape bit, I think.

1021 was built by Manning Wardle & Co in 1916 and was one of five similar locomotives imported by the NSW Public Works Department for various construction duties.
1021 was retired by the NSWGR in 1970 and became part of the collection at the NSW Rail Museum. During 2010, the locomotive was thoroughly restored to be displayed within a theatre inside the museum, a visual and sound show on the history and role the locomotive played within the NSWGR.
