Well here's the story:

I'm going to a friend's lake house today so I won't be able to get on or anything, so I'm uploading this super early so I can count it for the 365. This is day 100 and it's pretty bad, but I'll take massive amounts of pictures at the lake soooo I'll make up for it :)

This is from a couple nights ago.

Hopefully I get somewhat tan at the lake.

I gave up secondhand store shopping and I haven't decided whether that was a good thing or not... I really wanted to go.

I'll be back tomorrow morning!

Yes... I am up at 8:30 and it feels strange.

We had visited Crocosaurus Cove in Darwin with the main intention of swimming with a crocodile, albeit in a nice safe perspex tube, bit also knew they had an excellent reptile display.

As we went through the reptile House we came across Bree, one of the keepers, and Pippin, a Blue Tongued Lizard. Bree was showing Pippin off twosome children but after they left we asked if we could have a hold of Pippin which Bree agreed to. Pippin was really gentle and a delight to hold and Bree explained about where they came from and what they ate. They do have blue tongues and the name of Pippin's species adds to the stereotype of Australian naming systems, all pretty simple stuff. Lizard with blue tongue is a Blue Tongued Lizard!

Bree looks after all the animals in the reptile house but did admit she didn't feed the venomous snakes. Seeing as they the two most venomous snakes in the world in the display we don't blame her.

We explained the 100 Strangers project and she agreed to have her photo taken. It obviously had to include Pippin and the subdued lighting in the reptile house made it an interesting challenge to get some sort of appropriate lighting, I didn't want to use flash in that environment. by using the down light from he ceiling and one of the brighter displays we came up with this photo which gives a good impression of our time with Bree and Pippin.

I found a new thrift store in town where everything is only one dollar and it all goes toward a local workshop for disabled children. how cool is that? its my little secret.

everything thrifted.

#3 All painted and pretty. Pyrographed, acrylic paints and watercolour pencils (first time using them, LOVE them!) and decopage flowers and heart. I'm so happy getting back to painting! 45cm x 29.5cm plywood. Hmmm must take it outside and get a better photo to get rid of the shadow.

Bill's hobby is kayaking. I met him on a Saturday morning in September 2014 at Rodeo Beach in Northern California. He was with his friends all of whom had kayaks. They call themselves Neptune's Rangers, and post videos of their exploits on YouTube.

Sandra and Ven (I think that's his name) were standing outside the entrance of the Tattoo convention and were having a discussion when I stopped them and asked them for a portrait of both of them. They did agree but I think Sandra seemed more happy to do it. Ven was carrying a big backpack and I believe had just arrived and so was probably a bit tired. Sandra had come down from Scotland but is of Russian origin.

Anyway, I had seen this dark wall and thought it would be perfect as a contrast against Sandra's blonde hair and complement her dark eyes. As she was getting in position she put her hand against wall and I thought that would make a great composition. I also wanted to include the green of the plant at the top right hand side as I felt it went well with the shot.

I really loved her look in this shot, but not the shape she was making with her hands and asked her to straighten them. Unfortunately by that time she was all smiles and although they were nice, something in her expression kept bringing me back to this one.

On a side note, I have decided that if I shoot two or more people, even if they are individual shots, I will count them as 1 encounter. Therefore Sandra is 42a in my shot, Ven will be 42b. Thanks guys for being a part of my project.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE 100,000 VIEWS!

A big fat thanks to everyone who've visited, commented and faved my pics in these 1 year and a half on Flickr!

I know this is just a hobby, they are just dolls, but I love it and I have always had an amazing time doing this!

I really mean it: I love taking pics and I love my collection, but posting pics and having people spend their precious time looking at them is the ultimate gift!

I really appreciate it!

To thank and celebrate, here's Zoe, my first Blythe (well, first doll actually) ever.

She's with me since 2003.

THANK YOU, OBRIGADA, MERCI, GRACIAS, DANKE, GRAZIE, ARIGATO, MGOI, TAK!

PS: I know it is silly, but I am silly. :D

Qdd Landera ahora ya! xD

I wasn't sure quite what to expect last year when I started my photography project 365. I really only had two goals, first to just to complete the project, secondly to become a better photographer. As I post up my last image today I would like to think I have achieved both.

To recap here are the two simple rules I had for my project 365:-

1)Take a photo each day for 365 days.

2)Post up each photo on the Internet, not necessarily on the day it was taken.

This sounded so simple at the beginning, I definitely did not realise quite what a commitment I was taking on. Even on a quick night I would take at least 30 to 60 minutes to upload select, process and post up a picture. That doesn't even take into account the need for stopping in busy, awkward, public spots to capture each days photo. There is no time off for being ill, tiredness, hectic schedules, being on holiday or out for a romantic meal. The rules state a photo a day, and I'm proud to say I have stuck to that.

So 365 days later I what have I achieved?

•I now have my own website prophecyblur.com that gets regular Google traffic and is currently on the first page if you search for "project 365 photo blog".

•I've had several hundred comments from both my Blog and Flickr postings. Some of whom have become both friends and or inspirations (evolution of rayzr, Brian Palmer, Greg Mcmullin, eahNC, Fedora365, Adrian Park, Hewlbane, Jacob Schere, DevilFishMak, Timbo and Phil Roeder to name but a few).

•I’ve found some great groups and places to share my work with the Londonist (an amazing online magazine) and 365 Community (the best Flickr group bar none) standing out in particular.

•I've leant to experiment with my camera better using Aperture, Movement, Shutter Speed and generally better composition.

•I’ve discovered new techniques, my favorite being ‘Intentional Camera Movement’ that was introduced to me by my good friend Ray Rhodes.

•I’ve become much more confident and deliberate in both my photography and my post processing.

•I’ve had fun playing with Fake Polaroid’s, Cartoon(ifying) Images and making Diptychs and Triptychs forever changing the way I view photography.

•I’ve had a photo in a London gallery, and run what was described as a multimedia installation on my very last day.

•Finally and most importantly I genuinely feel I am a much better, more interesting photographer as a result.

The last stretch of the project was tough (really tough), I felt at times like a marathon runner just wanting to get to the end. I’m really pleased through the peaks and troughs of the project there are very few photos I am ashamed of. I have done this all (bar 2 photos) with my trusty Canon S90 which takes images that truly exceed its compact size, proving that the best camera really is the one in your pocket.

So what next?

Definitely nothing involving regular posting on Flickr or my Blog, I need a gap to re-find the joy of photography again. I may look to reward myself with a somewhat more serious camera, although I still think I will ere on the side of compact. The front runner at the moment is waiting for the new Fuji Finepix X100, but then I have been hankering after a GF1 all year so who knows what I will get!

To all those who have followed me (including my mum) thank you for all the comments and support that have kept me going. I can only apologise to my most loyal commenter’s that I have been so bad at reciprocating recently. It has taken all my will power and energy just to get to the end of this project!

Once I have recovered, maybe enjoyed a Christmas break, I’ll be looking to get back out there taking photos again, but I definitely won’t be starting another Project 365 again anytime soon (if ever)! That and the fact I have a nice backlog of ‘almost 365’ images that I can start posting up now the project is done.

In conclusion?

If you are thinking of doing a Project 365 I would still say go for it, with the caveat that if you really want to get the most out of it, you have to be prepared for the commitment both on yourself and your family to make it through to the end.
