comment. I'll get to more of you, slowly, a little at a time. My arm improves a little each day and I don't want a setback!
What I discovered this week is that when my arm feels better, I forget to click with my left
hand! Then my arm starts hurting more again! 9-( I've clicked myself into a setback! 9-(((

I saw this extremely rare (for South Africa at least) UK import Toyota Corolla 1.3 Auto for sale in December. Being a fan of rare cars and Toyotas I just couldn't resist. There was only one problem: the car was in Cape Town and I was in Pretoria.
But as we Afrikaners say: "'n Boer maak 'n plan". I contacted the owner and arranged a test drive for the next Saturday. Next on the list was a one-way air ticket, taxi service from Cape Town International and overnight accommodation for the return trip, all organised over the interweb.
On Saturday I was up early and at Lanceria Airport before 6AM. After a 2 hour flight the green Boeing landed in Cape Town at 9AM. My taxi driver was waiting in the terminal with a sign: "Welcome Mr du Plessis". The trip to Fish Hoek was about an hour and my driver kept me up to date on all the facts any tourist needed to know about Cape Town. Oh yes, the taxi was a Toyota Avanza with over 400000km on the clock. Impressive.
From 10AM to 11AM I test drove the Corolla, haggled a bit over the price and made the payment at the local ABSA branch. Voila, I was the proud owner of one of the rarest / most abundant cars in the country. (The local Corolla was the top selling car at the time)
Now for the 1500km trip back to Pretoria. But first I had to at least get my feet wet, so I headed to the beautiful Muizenberg beach before heading inland at about 12AM. The day ended 6 hours and 500km later at Beaufort West where I would be spending the night at the Royal Lodge. It was hot. Driving through the Klein Karoo, the Corolla's thermometer showed 36°C (97°F) after 5PM.
I left Beaufort West at 4:20 the next morning and finished the remaining 1000km to Pretoria at 2PM. All in all, the little Toyota took the trip in its stride. Come to think of it, this is probably the farthest anyone has ever traveled to buy a Corolla.

This was the last in a series of progressively slower shutter speed shots. As I went slower, I also braced myself more fully against a fence just behind me. 1/3 at 300mm is my own personal best but obviously achieved in this very specific testing situation.
