Another from Monday's trip out west.
After leaving the Torridon area Steve (Stoates-Findhorn) and I headed for the Applecross Peninsula and stopped for a study of this old croft house.
These old places always make me wish I could have a short trip back in time to see how life was when it was occupied.

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.

If you've noticed I have been spending a lot of time at the beaches lately here in So. Cal. getting ready to for a trip to Kauai.
I recently purchased a set of Lee graduated filters to see if I will be able to capture the full range of the scene in a single exposure using a grad. Looking forward to trying them out in the Garden Isle. :)

Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand. In 1954, the forests around Doi Inthanon were conserved, creating Doi Inthanon National Park, as one of the original 14 national parks of Thailand.
On the main road to the summit of Doi Inthanon stand two adjacent chedis, one called Naphamethinidon, meaning "by the strength of the land and air", and the other, Naphaphonphumisiri, meaning "being the strength of the air and the grace of the land". These temples were built to honour the 60th birthday anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1987, and the 60th birthday anniversary of Queen Sirikit in 1992, respectively.
Now regarding the image: It is pano shot of 4 images each taken at 15mm, F/8, 1/125 Sec, ISO 100 with exposure bias set at +0.7 step - all handheld. This picture was taken from a small cliff near by the campus, one has to climb up here in order to capture the full panoramic view of this beautiful place!
The weather was very foggy and the views were not clear. We were waiting for the fog to get clear as it was constantly moving and clearing for few minutes in-between.

These are not trees but wooden poles of this trabucco.
A trabucco is a massive construction built from wood, which consists of a platform anchored to the rock by large logs of pine of Aleppo, jutting out into the sea, from where two (or more) long arms called antennae stretch out suspended some feet above the water and supporting a huge, narrow-meshed, net (called trabocchetto).
The morphology of the Gargano coast and of Abruzzo determined the presence of two different types of trabucco: the Garganic trabucco is usually anchored to a rocky platform, longitudinally extended to the coastline, from which the antennae depart.
The variant of Abruzzo and Molise, also called bilancia, often insists on shallower coasts and therefore is characterized by the presence of a platform, transversal to the coast, which is connected by a tight bridge made of wooden boards. A bilancia has just one winch, often electrically operating, even when the sea is perfectly calm. Abruzzo bilancia has also a net much smaller than that of Gargano trabucco, another feature that differentiates the two types is the length and number of antennae, more extensive Gargano (also double that of Abruzzo and Molise) in Termoli balances were more than two antennae, Gargano always two or more. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabucco
