I think we started accepting the situation around here by degrees, imperceptibly. The Salt Lake Valley and more than a million people were buried beneath the layer of pollution pictured above just over two days ago. It only took four or five days for it to accumulate to that level, one at which I couldn't see through standing above it virtually anywhere except where mountain ranges poked out like islands in the distance. At least our mountains here are still much easier on the lungs.

I had to free up some space on my Mac, and found a few photos that I nearly had forgotten. This one is from a short walk we took on the frozen lake Jonsvatnet last winter. Jonsvatnet is Trondheim municipality's main water source

In the small town of Condette, northern-most France, you can find this charming little Tudor revival castle, built in the middle of the 19th century by the Englishman Sir John Hare. The castle rests on foundations much older than that, though. A castle was first built here in the 12th century, and the direct predecessor to the one now standing dated to 1222-1231, built by Philippe Hurepel de Clermont, son of the French king Philippe II Auguste. That castle was destroyed by Marie de Medici in 1615 in the religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants at the time. The place was left in ruins - but some of the defense walls survived, and this new castle were built incorporating those remains (as you can clearly see in this shot).

Start of an Autumn glow.
Peace and tranquillity found in the late afternoon sunshine by the river. A quiet time just sitting and watching as the sun came streaming through the leaves and the rich golden tones reflected across the water.
Realising that Summer will be but a memory soon and Autumn is knocking on the door in Middle England...but oh what a show of colour to look forward too :)
Hubby was fly fishing so I took the time to just meander along and explore the river. As they say...it's the simple things in life that bring joy! :)
