With afternoon temperatures of around 40 degrees F, the swing sets were silent on Friday at the Big Fish Lake recreation area near Ortonville, Michigan.

Sligo Abbey (Irish: Mainistir Shligigh), a ruined abbey in Sligo, Ireland, (officially called the Dominican Friary of Sligo) was originally built in 1253 by the order of Maurice Fitzgerald, Baron of Offaly. It was destroyed in 1414 by a fire, ravaged during the Nine Years' War in 1595 and once more in 1641 during the Ulster Uprising.
The friars moved out in the 18th century, but Lord Palmerston restored the Abbey in the 1850s. Currently, it is open to the public.
It appears in two short stories by William Butler Yeats: The Crucifixion of the Outcast, set in the Middle Ages, and The Curse of the Fires and of the Shadows describing its destruction in 1641.

Morning view traveling from Germany to Austria bypassing the A8 close to Salzburg. The Mondsee with view to Schafberg, the sun is still behind the mountains. Partially snow clouds, partially blue sky, very funny!

The grain on the water is the frozen surface caused by the low temperatures of the nights, very dangerous waters indeed but very sublime scene.

I don't remember exactly where this was taken, except to say that it was on Key Biscayne, Florida, during a road trip last January. We only had time for a quick drive through the area, and I hopped out of the car for a shot as we were passing through.

I have taken many photos of the trees down this stretch of road and each time they come out a little different. The combination of stormy sky and the sun going down made for beautiful light and shadows.

An old fence post slowly is losing its battle to the erosion of salt and water. Reflected sunset light across the water provides a colorful backdrop.
