One of the most beautiful forests in Europe is located on the South-East slope of the "Barranco de Borrué" and, opposite to it, along the track betwen Fanlo and Buesa trhough "La Pardina del Señor" (Huesca, Aragón, España). Taking pictures of that slope is a challenge because the light is either dull and low, or an elevated annoying backlight. This calls for good lenses (which is far from my case!), low ISO and a tripod. It's a real color binge.

And You ?

Beautiful evening view from Mauna Kea summit to Mauna Loa. These are the two big volcanos on Big Island (Hawaii).

The peak of Mauna Kea (4,207 m, 13,802 ft above sea level) is the highest point in the state of Hawaii. Much of the mountain is under water; when measured from its oceanic base, Mauna Kea is over 10,000 m (33,000 ft) tall.

Mauna Loa in the background has almost the same altitude. Its peak reaches 4,169 m (13,679 ft) above sea level.

Imagine you are on a dream beach in the summer and have it alone for you...

Reminiscent of the Caribbean, a manless sandy beach on the Isle of Harris, outer Hebrides.

As we walk towards winter, her freezing branches begin to close in around us with icy twig fingers reaching out, eager to touch and spread her frost.

I trekked down to Laguna Beach this evening in hopes of catching some cloud coverage, but alas it wasn't meant to be. The tide was at its lowest level exposing this crevice. I climbed down in and setup my comp over the water. It wasn't until I returned home and started processing that I noticed this little fella hiding in the shadows. No photoshop trickery here this is the actual photo with minor processing. The hair stood up on the back of my neck momentarily when I noticed him there on the right side my composition.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! :) Have a great day everybody. :)

If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

This is a snap taken from the western flank of the coastal path which skirts around Thorney Island. A relatively new discovery for me given that this is barely 10 minutes from where I live! This view is looking towards Emsworth and beyond.

I know many photographer will criticize it by saying "it is so fake". Well, maybe it is fake, because it never happened, if only in my mind. One great photographer said "with our photographs we show more ourselves in than others", and I think he is right. Here I show my dream, my imagination...

... thanks a lot for your visit, comments, faves ...

Shanghai, China

The image (a crop) shows a close up of the Yan'An Elevated Road/Highway from the Bund (Waitan) in Shanghai, China. The partial building at the bottom right hand corner is No 1 on the Bund - Asia Building. This image was captured late into the blue hour when the sky was almost black. As this is a close up of this section of the urban scene, no sky is seen within this image.

The Sword-billed Hummingbird is a charismatic species from Andean South America. It is found from Venezuela and Colombia in the north to Bolivia in the south. The species belongs to a monotypic genus, Ensifera, and is quite different from all other hummingbirds; metallic green and bronzed overall, with a black bill that is slightly upcurved and longer than the body length. This is the only bird species with a bill length that exceeds the body length. When seen perched, the species usually holds its bill quite upright, presumably because of balance issues stemming from this long and relatively heavy structure.

For me one of the most amazing hummingbirds of Ecuador! Taken at the amazing Zuro Loma Reserve.

Thanks for viewing. Have a nice weekend

Sunrise from one of my mornings on Capers Island a couple weeks back... There were a lot of gnarly old stumps on the beach but I particularly liked this piece of driftwood.

The Linn Lime Tree is one of the biggest and oldest trees in Switzerland.

It was planted by those who survived the Black Death of 1349.

The lime tree is now 25 meter high with a girth of 11 meter.
