France. Alpes. Savoie. Massif de la Vanoise. Photo prise lors d'un aller-retour au Lac Rond, au départ du parking des Fontanettes, en passant par le Refuge des Barmettes, le Lac des Vaches, Le Lac Long et le Col de la Vanoise. Nous avons effectué cette rando à 2 avec ma femme et c'est peut-être notre rando préférée de tous les temps ! ❤️
Cette photo a été prise juste après le Refuge des Barmettes, avant de traverser le Torrent de la Glière et de passer en rive gauche de celui-ci.
On peut y voir une magnifique brochette de Pointes et d'Aiguilles, à savoir, de gauche à droite :
o La Pointe de la Grande Glière (3392m),
o La Pointe de la Petite Glière (3322m),
o L'Aiguille de l'Épena (3421m),
o L'Aiguille de la Vanoise (2797m).
J'adore l'allure de l'Aiguille de la Vanoise (à droite sur la photo), non seulement sous cet angle, avec sa face nord qui semble quasiment verticale, mais aussi quand on la voit de l'autre côté, depuis le Col de la Vanoise. Ce fut un de mes sommets favoris lors de cette rando inoubliable. ❤️

Je suis content d'avoir réussi à poster 2 photos ce WE car je n'avais pas réussi à en poster depuis septembre (ça faisait plus de 2 semaines ...). 😊
France. Vosges. Alsace. Haut-Rhin. Photo prise lors d'une rando en boucle, effectuée seul, au départ de Katzenthal, en passant par le Neuberg, le Sommerberg, le Galtz et la croix de Meywihr. Comme le lendemain vers l'Ungersberg, j'ai pu y voir une ribambelle de parcelles de vignes teintées de magnifiques couleurs (jaune, vert et rouge).
Merci à tous les viticulteurs alsaciens de régaler nos yeux à chaque automne par leur travail acharné de toute l'année !!! 🙏😉
En 2019, je n'ai pas fait de rando dans les vignes alsaciennes pendant le magnifique mois d'octobre. Mais à la place j'ai découvert avec bonheur les environs du Hohneck à cette même période. En 2020, je n'ai pas encore pu profiter d'une belle journée ensoleillée depuis le début du mois. Certes, le mois n'est pas terminé mais c'est mal parti ...
Cette photo a été prise depuis la Croix de Meywihr. On y voit au 2ème plan le village de Kientzheim (qui se situe entre ceux de Kaysersberg et de Sigolsheim, juste avant l'entrée de la Vallée de Kaysersberg), devant les Monts de Sigolsheim. Et tout au fond on peut voir les 3 Châteaux de Ribeauvillé ainsi que le Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg. J'ai également mis 2 petits bonus en légende sur la photo. 😉
On the way to Beinn Bhrotain, we're climbing Carn Clioch-mhuillin, and from its slopes we have a great view of a lot of Munros in the Cairngorms, from Ben MacDui (Britain's 2nd highest peak) on the left and Carn a Mhaim, right over to Lochnagar on the far right. In front of us running left to right we have Glen Dee, while the Glen to the left and running away from us is Glen Lui.
Beinn Bhrotain (pronounced Bane Vrottan meaning Hill of the Hound) stands at 1157 meters (3796 feet) and is the first of our Munros today. Monadh Mor (pronounced Monnagh Mor meaning The Big Hill) is our second and final destination and stands at 1113 meters (3651 feet). A short 5 mile cycle up Glen Dee gets us to the foot of the climb, then it's an 11 mile hike across rough and boggy ground to get there. An epic 8.5 hours, largely un-pathed, time in the hills gets us back to the cars just before full dark falls!

France. Vosges. Alsace. Haut-Rhin. Vallée de Munster. Photo prise lors d'une rando en boucle effectuée en solo, au départ du Lac du Forlet, en passant par le sommet des falaises qui surplombent le Cirque du Forlet (notamment le Gazon du Faing et le Gazon de Faîte).
Cette rando fait partie des randos les plus marquantes qu'il m'ait été donné de faire, par la beauté que j'ai pu y voir. Sauf erreur, c'était la 1ère fois que j'allais randonner dans les Hautes Vosges au début de l'automne. Et j'ai été ébloui par la beauté des couleurs (avec les myrtilliers rouges et les arbres de toutes les couleurs), venant magnifier le cadre alpin déjà superbe du Cirque du Forlet.
Cela faisait longtemps que je souhaitais publier au moins une 1ère photo de cette rando inoubliable. Voilà qui est chose faite. Comme quoi tout finit par arriver avec un peu de patience. En fait j'avais longtemps repoussé le tri des photos de cette rando car j'ai pris presque 1.000 photos ce jour-là. Mais finalement, ça ne m'a pas pris aussi longtemps que ce que je craignais car je suis devenu plus exigeant qu'avant et du coup j'ai réussi à effectuer une sélection relativement réduite sans y passer un temps fou. C'est cool ! 😊
Cette photo a été prise depuis le barrage situé en aval du Lac du Forlet. Le Lac du Forlet est aussi appelé Lac des Truites. C'est le plus élevé des lacs vosgiens (1066m). Et c'est aussi mon lac vosgien préféré avec le Lac de Schiessrothried. Ce sont tous les deux des lacs situés dans des cirques glaciaires bordés de belles falaises qui leur confèrent un magnifique cadre alpin. Sur la gauche de la photo, on voit les belles falaises du Gazon de Faîte (1303m).

When going for the first time to the volcano, I found myself with a wide fringe of land and pasture, accompanied by cliffs that go directly into the sea. The panorama may not be attractive at first sight, but there are many interesting places and loads of history that are worth knowing.
La cresta del Poike:
On the north side of the volcano there are three mounds created by the accumulation of lava that formed a very curious and showy landscape.
These three small mountains Ma'unga Parehe (broken mountain), Ma'unga Tea Tea (white hill) and Ma'unga Go to Heva (magic water hill), are an important source of Trachyte, a volcanic stone with which it built some moons (only some of which is found in Toba Tapilli, a volcanic rock much more moldable and which was used as the main material to build the giant rocks).
On top of these three mountains I also found some remains of Ahu (ceremonial platforms), from where some hubo moais.
I will climb it later.
I need to get into the sea first.
Beaches, food and beer, first!
I haven't been anywhere dressed for a while, mainly due to lockdown, but I have had the odd times when I've been experimenting with different foundation, powders etc.at home, for when I do eventually venture out again. I was trying out the "baking" technique under my eyes here with concealer, beauty blender and loose powder that is all the rage at the moment and followed a youtube tutorial. I'm not sure if its worth all the bother to be honest, I should probably just get some tear trough filler and botox, there is only so much makeup can do! It's my own hair here, plus a few clip in hair extensions for added volume

Il s'agit de la 2ème randonnée dont j'ai eu le temps de trier les photos grâce à mon absence totale de connexion Internet pendant 2 semaines à Quiberon cet été. Et j'y ai pris un énorme plaisir. J'avais laissé de côté le tri des photos de cette rando car je savais que je risquerais de sélectionner beaucoup de candidates. Mais en même temps, il me tardait de ne pas laisser croupir ces photos.

Photo prise lors d'une rando en A/R au cours de laquelle nous sommes allés avec ma femme au Col de Charnier en passant par le Vallon de Charnier et en partant du hameau de Lachaup. Je me réjouissais de faire cette rando et je n'ai pas été déçu car elle figure parmi nos randos préférées de tous les temps ! ❤️
Cette photo a été prise au pied de l'arête EST du sommet de Roche Courbe, juste avant de rejoindre le Vallon de Charnier.
Le sommet qui trône au centre s'appelle Roche Courbe (2259m) et il fait partie des sommets que je trouve les plus beaux. Sur la droite, on voit la face EST de la Tête de Vallon Pierra (2512m). Quand on voit la face EST ou la face SUD de ce sommet, on a l'impression d'admirer une magnifique pyramide d'Egypte et au cours de cette randonnée, ce sont justement les 2 faces de ce sommet que nous avons eu la chance de contempler.
Ce Vallon de Charnier est un concentré du Dévoluy, dans tout ce qu'il a de plus beau ! ❤️
Sur la droite de la photo, je trouve que les nuages dessinent une espèce d'étoile filante. 😉

Croatia is a beautiful country to discover many different landscapes. Korčula is a dense island with mostly dense forest, mainly holm oaks, pines and all kinds of scrub. The coast consists of bays, caves and clear water. A place for more lingering around and enjoying the slow pace of life.
Korčula is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea and lies just off the Dalmatian coast. The island harboring a glorious old town is certainly worth a visit. The historical center is very picturesque. The island is also known as the birth island of the famous explorer Marco Polo; however, this has not been proven. At that time the island belonged to the city of Venice, where he might have been born. The fact is that many inhabitants on this island bear the surname Polo. Photo taken from the Cathedral of Saint Mark in the centre of Korčula with a view on the house of Marco Polo, the famous world traveler and writer was born. It’s recently bought by Korčula’s Town Authority which is currently planning to reconstruct and redone it into the Museum of Marco Polo. At the present the house is opened for visitors to have a look around. Climb narrow stairs and enter to the Loggia that has great views over Korcula Old town’s roofs.

Vico Equense is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. If you're looking for a quiet corner on the coast far from the tourist crowds, this is the place! It's located on the Amalfi Coast, it can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii as it is at the south-eastern end of the rail line. Vico Equense is the first town along the Sorrentine peninsula, and the perfect destination if you want to explore a coastal town in an area relatively undiscovered by most tourists. France. Alpes. Savoie. Haute Tarentaise. Massif des Alpes Grées. Photo prise lors d'un aller-retour en solo au Col de la Traversette via le Roc Noir, au départ du quartier Les Eucherts (à l'EST de la Station de la Rosière). Cette randonnée offre une très belle vue au sud sur le Mont Pourri et au nord sur le Mont Blanc.
Cette photo a été prise vers le Sud, depuis le quartier des Eucherts, à l'EST de la Station de ski de La Rosière (Montvalezan). Cette station est appréciée par ceux qui cherchent à éviter les grandes foules car elle est de petite taille à côté des stations gigantesques qu'on trouve en Tarentaise comme Val d'Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Les Ménuires, Val Thorens, etc, qui font office d'usines à côté de la Rosière !...
En plus d'être de taille raisonnable, la Station de le Rosière jouit de cette belle vue vers le sud, avec :
o Ce beau et majestueux chaînon constitué de l'Aiguille Rouge et du Mont Pourri,
o Ce beau virage de la Tarentaise qui s'enroule autour de la masse imposante de l'Aiguille Rouge pour la contourner et terminer son "chemin" vers le Sud jusqu'à Val d'Isère.
Sur les pentes à gauche de la vallée sur la photo, on peut voir le village de Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise, ainsi que sa petite Station située près du hameau de Bonconseil. C'est dans cette station que nous avons logé pendant 3 belles semaines cet été 2019. Et sur le balcon de notre logement, nous avions une superbe vue sur les faces EST de l'Aiguille Rouge et du Mont Pourri ! ❤️👍😊

Happy May Day! My first Osprey of the season.
Osprey feed primarily on live fish, which they catch from the water by using their long, hooked talons. An osprey can plunge so forcefully into the water that if will completely submerge! They are a perfect fishing machine with a success rate of around 70%.

Photo prise lors d'une rando en boucle partielle effectuée avec ma femme au départ du Gaschney, en passant successivement par le Lac de Schiessrothried, le Col du Wormspel, le haut de la crête des Spitzkoepfe, une partie du Sentier des Névés, le Col du Wormspel à nouveau, le Hohneck et pour finir le Col de Schaeferthal.
Les paysages grandioses et les magiques couleurs d'automne au soleil ont fait de cette rando une de nos plus belles randos ! ❤️
Comme indiqué dans le titre, cette photo a été prise depuis le flanc droit de la crête des Spitzkoepfe, près du point le plus haut.
Sur ce cliché, on peut voir quelques beaux rochers de cette crête rocheuse et sauvage, prisée des alpinistes et amateurs de sensations fortes. D'ailleurs, à droite des rochers de gauche, on aperçoit légèrement le casque d'un alpiniste et le corps d'un autre.
En bas à droite, on peut voir la pente abrupte plonger vers la Combe d'Ammelthal et ses belles couleurs d'automne.
Quand j'étais sur cette forte pente, j'étais subjugué la sauvagerie du décor mais je n'étais pas à l'aise car je suis légèrement sujet au vertige et qu'il y avait du vent. J'étais particulièrement mal à l'aise quand je prenais des photos. 😉
Dans la pente, on peut voir quelques arbustes déjà complètement dénudés le 13 octobre. Il y en avait beaucoup plus sur le flanc gauche, du côté du Lac de Schiessrothried.

The world is getting warmer. Since the Industrial Revolution, the global average surface temperature has increased by more than 0.9 degrees Celsius and the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by more than a third. Most of the warming occurred in the past 35 years, with the warmest years on record taking place since 2010. 2016 and 2019 were the warmest years on record.
Global warming, the gradual heating of Earth's surface, oceans and atmosphere, is caused by human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels that pump carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. More than 197 international scientific organizations agree that global warming is real and has been caused by human action.
It is causing a set of changes and complex shifts to the Earth's which climate scientists call “climate change”. Volcanic eruptions and variations in solar radiation from sunspots have contributed only about two percent to the recent warming effect. The balance comes from greenhouse gases and other human-caused factors.
The rapid rise in greenhouse gases is a problem because it’s changing the climate faster than some living things can adapt to. Also, a new and more unpredictable climate poses unique challenges to all life. A one-degree global change is significant. In the past, a one- to two-degree drop was all it took to plunge the Earth into the Little Ice Age.
Already, global warming is having a measurable effect on the planet.

Dear friends, what are we doing in times when we are not allowed to travel? We can take photos around our home - sure. I guess we all do this - till we cannot see anything new any more, right? And then we remember the great times where we have been at the most wonderful places that are right now and possibly forever totally out of reach - full of desire. Such a place is Machu Picchu for me - a magic place and a place that I had the chance to visit exactly one year before.
We were fifteen people in our group last year - great folks and we are still in contact. And one of us had the idea to start with a kind of diary from our tour to South America in our WhatsApp group. So we start each day with a short summary of what we experienced that day and everybody contribute with photos, comments and memories - and so we are virtually travelling back to the past and redo our tour again...and are happy about all the little things that we thought we have forgotten and can now enjouy again...
That's also the reason why I am posting these photos now here on flickr and hope to take you with me a bit along that journey...

Liebe Freunde, was machen wir in Zeiten, in denen wir nicht reisen dürfen? Wir können Fotos rund um unser Zuhause machen - sicher. Ich denke, wir alle machen das - bis wir nichts Neues mehr finden können, oder? Und dann erinnern wir uns an die großartigen Zeiten, in denen wir an den schönsten Orten waren, die jetzt und möglicherweise für immer völlig unerreichbar sind - voller Sehnsucht. Ein solcher Ort ist für mich Machu Picchu - ein magischer Ort und ein Ort, den ich genau vor einem Jahr besuchen durfte.
Wir waren fünfzehn Leute in unserer Gruppe - großartige Menschen und wir sind immer noch in Kontakt. Und einer von uns hatte die Idee, mit einer Art Tagebuch von unserer Tour nach Südamerika in unserer WhatsApp-Gruppe zu beginnen. So beginnen wir jeden Tag mit einer kurzen Zusammenfassung dessen, was wir an diesem Tag erlebt haben, und alle tragen mit Fotos, Kommentaren und Erinnerungen dazu bei - und so reisen wir praktisch zurück in die Vergangenheit und wiederholen unsere Tour erneut ... und freuen uns über all die kleinen Dinge, von denen wir dachten, dass wir sie schon vergessen hätten und können sie jetzt wieder genießen...
Das ist auch der Grund, warum ich diese Fotos jetzt hier auf Flickr poste und hoffe, Euch auf dieser Reise ein wenig mitnehmen zu können ...
