I found this little waterfall on the website ctwaterfalls.com. Since where I live in N Indiana is so flat, there really isn't much in the way of waterfalls to photograph, so visiting Connecticut gives me the chance to indulge in one of my favorite subjects to photograph. On this morning, however, I forgot my tripod! So, I used my sweatshirt instead to prop my camera on for this shot. And despite the title, no showers were taken by me at this location.

The building in this shot is Ossians Hall a Folly at the Hermitage in Perthshire. The trees are just starting to turn there now, in another couple of weeks it will be spectacular but unfortunately I am away (on another holiday) so will miss this.

I used a polariser on this just to cut the reflections on the rocks and the leaves, this and an ND grad helped to take the exposure time down to 1 second which was just enough to keep some structure in the water, while smoothing it out.

View large to enjoy the details!

Sumac is typically among the first to change to autumn colors, and where I live, the transformation is already well under way.

When driving Alberta's stunning Icefields Parkway one must stop at iconic Peyto Lake.

This "dog headed" lake is glacially fed by the Peyto Glacier, which provides the rock flour that creates these striking blue/teal tones.

Thanks for any comments, faves and suggestions.

Feliz semana a tod@s

In the glow of sunset on June 29, 2016, an eastbound BNSF grain empty passes the tall cliffs rimming Lombard, Montana. In a couple of hours, the innocent-looking clouds will build into impressive thunderstorms flashing over the ghost town, while Montana Rail Link tonnage continues to roll through the night.

Well, taking photos out in nature - but trying out a monochrome treatment for a nature shot. But if you don't practice, you can't get any better at it. So... practice makes perfect. In the long run.

I went to the Hermitage to photograph the nearby waterfall but loved all the patterns the swirls of water were making at this section of the river. The sun light just catching a few of the trees without lighting up the rest was an added bonus.

I used a Lee Big Stopper to get the 15 second exposure.

Captured on a hike on top of Plose Mountain. This is actually a hiking trail for kids called Woody Walk - and there were dozens behind me - can you hear them scream??? But still a great landscape and kids have fun though

I had been waiting for this moment for a long time. In 2013 the park was closed because of the government shutdown (don't get me started). Last year, clouds rain and snow kept the Tetons hidden while we were there. This year - bingo! While the sky did not light up much, the mountains sure did! It was a sight to behold and well worth the wait and cold temperatures!

Thank you so much for visiting and commenting - they are greatly appreciated!
