"It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came

without packages, boxes or bags!... Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more!" ~Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas!

This had been sitting on my bucket list, for a long while. I was thrilled to be able to capture this sunstar, behind Wizard Island. The weather was very unpredictable, with a clouds and snow forecast every day. My first luck was to be able to find a room at the Crater Lake Lodge, which had recently opened after winter closure. Being a light sleeper, I kept looking out the window, every time I woke up during the night, in the hope of seeing some clearing, to have some sun for my sunrise. I also had the bonus luck of capturing some moonlit night images, which I'll post at a later time.

This is a three 24mm horizontal image panorama.

As always, thanks for stopping by and looking, I appreciate your comments and visits.

What look like white paving stones are very deceptive. As soon as you step on the white pieces of ice the begin to slide and shatter. underneath is a very hard sheet of ice. Even my ice grippers on my shoes did no good. Once you begin to stumble you are going to go down. As you try to regain your footing on the top ice you break through to the super slippery layer below. I would imagine I looked pretty comical. Like a character from a Saturday morning cartoon. Fortunately my camera did not suffer my fate.

Binghamton is a city in, and the county seat of, Broome County, New York, United States.[5] It lies in the state's Southern Tier region near the Pennsylvania border, in a bowl-shaped valley at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers. Binghamton is the principal city and cultural center of the Binghamton metropolitan area (also known as Greater Binghamton, or historically the Triple Cities), home to a quarter million people.[2] The population of the city itself, according to the 2010 census, is 47,376.

From the days of the railroad, Binghamton was a transportation crossroads and a manufacturing center, and has been known at different times for the production of cigars, shoes, and computers.[7] IBM was founded nearby, and the flight simulator was invented in the city, leading to a notable concentration of electronics- and defense-oriented firms. This sustained economic prosperity earned Binghamton the moniker of the Valley of Opportunity.[8] However, following cuts made by defense firms after the end of the Cold War, the region has lost a significant portion of its manufacturing industry.

(Henri Desplanques)

La natura può allestire spettacoli straordinari.

Il palcoscenico è immenso...

The Tuscan countryside was built as a work of art by a refined people, the same one who ordered paintings and frescoes in the 15th century: this is the characteristic. It's amazing how these people built their rural landscapes as if they had no other concern than beauty. (Henri Desplanques)

(88/366) The view overlooking our shallow wildlife pond this afternoon. It's quite Spring-like when the sun is out. The 40 or so clumps of frogspawn have all hatched & there are a few Whirligig beetles whizzing around on the surface HBM!
