Life's A Beach..... A Pebble Beach - Bankside, London, UK
Spirit of the north...
It was 2 days trip, last weekend. This is the very beautiful island famous as the site of the Konevsky Monastery. It is located off the southwestern shore of Lake Ladoga.
In the Middle Ages, the island was considered holy by the Finnish tribes who particularly revered a huge boulder in the shape of a horse's skull, weighing more than 750 tons.
This boulder is known as "Steed-Stone" and gives its name to the island.
Absolutely wonderful place with fantastic atmosphere. I fell in love with this place 😍 Also the weather was so warm +28C and it was awesome.
Notice: Ladoga is the largest lake entirely in Europe and the 14th largest freshwater lake by area in the world.
Konevitsa on ortodoksisesta Konevitsan luostarista kuulu saari Laatokan länsirannan tuntumassa Sortanlahden edustalla.
Saarelle pääsee uudella katamaraanilla Sortanlahdesta (n. 15 minuutin matka).

Fortune-telling on a daisy...
You can probably remember picking the petals off a daisy at some point and reciting the popular words: “He loves me, he loves me not” (or she). Daisies in general are known to represent innocence, loyal love and simplicity.

Rapeseed is used for animal feed, plus it is cultivated for its seed (rapeseed oil) that is then used as a vegetable oil in cooking.

Bajada Loop, Saguaro National Park, Arizona
What surprised me during my first visit to the Sonoran desert in southern Arizona was how green it was compared to the Mojave desert in southern California.
Here on the left are the iconic saguaro cacti, found only in the Sonoran desert. Most of these are relatively mature saguaros with arms, although there is short, armless younger saguaro in the foreground.
An ocotillo (pronounced o-kuh-TEE-yo) dominates the center with its slender, whiplike, thorny branches. Whenever it rains enough, the ocotillos grow small leaves and red flowers, both of which then drop off as the memory of that rain fades. An ocotillo can go through several of these deciduous cycles during a year, depending on rain patterns.
Smaller cacti in this image include prickly pear with their flat round, thorny pads and buckthorn cholla (pronounced CHOY-yuh) with their cylindical thorny segments.

You will notice the Romanesque vault in transversal cradles and its arches with double roller and 2 colors. It is an almost unique case in Burgundy, only the rural church of Mont Saint-Vincent has a similar architecture.

This crisp and clear shot from the interior of the National Museum of Ireland from Lawrence for today. Four striking pieces of artillery tastefully arrayed among classical sculptures in a round room make for a beautiful display!
With thanks for everyone's inputs today, it is confirmed that French captured this image across the way at our neighbour's rotunda, in the National Museum of Ireland. Sharon.corbet advises that these cannon were captured at the Battles of Sobraon or Mahrajpore during the Anglo-Sikh Wars. While no longer displayed like this at the NMI Kildare St museum, Sharon tells us that one sits within the NMI Collins Barracks collection, and two others at McKee barracks near Phoenix Park....

So much has changed and so little has changed! This shot of Dame St. in Dublins city centre is still recognisable today despite perhaps 100 years that have elapsed. Mr. French must have obtained access to a building on Palace St. to get such a Point of View. There is much in this image to help date it?
And indeed with initial input from [https://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley] and [https://www.flickr.com/photos/beachcomberaustralia], the date was confirmed to be before 1900 (based on the horse-drawn trams and street lighting). Carol Maddock was then able to refine further, using the notice about the opéra comique named Olivette which was seemingly playing at the Theatre Royal in June 1898. Helping refine the date to the summer of 1898. At 3:40 in the afternoon :)

Date: Catalogue range c.1865-1914. Likely c.1898 per comments and description

Texel is an island in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. It is the largest and most populated island of the West Frisian Islands in the Wadden Sea. The island is situated north of Den Helder. The dune landscape on Texel is a unique habitat for wildlife. Notable areas include De Slufter, where the tide comes in and meets the dunes, forming a marshy environment rich in both fauna and flora. Texel is known for its wildlife, particularly in winter, when birds of prey and geese take up residence. About one third of Texel is a protected nature reserve. Nature is at its most unspoilt and raw at the most southerly tip of the island. In particular, the De Hors sandbar shows you how nature goes about its work. New dunes are evolving all the time due to the effects of wind and water. The peace and quiet and the wide open expanses induce an inner calm. The bracing air at De Hors give new energy. This extensive stretch of sand came about as a result of the shifting sandbanks converging with Texel. Nature has free range on this exposed expanse of sand, creating space for the development of new dunes on which marram and rush grass can flourish. The area is also a favourite nesting spot for little terns.
The National Park Dunes of Texel covers roughly the entire dune area, including sandbank The Hors. On the northern edge of The Hors a lot of sand supply. There is wonderful to see how dune formation is done. Man grabs choose not to, given the nature free play. Kanitha exploring the northern edge of the Hors dunes.
