The 1958 thriller "Touch of Evil" with Charlton Heston was was filmed throughout the beach city of Venice, CA.
In 1905, Abbot Kinney began to build his vision of Venice of America which included buildings that contained hundreds of columns, archways, and covered sidewalks. In 1965 the city of L.A. demolished over 500 of these buildings that wouldn't meet the current safety codes. These are a few of the classic structures that still stand.

Au bout du chemin qui mène à Avlékété, il y a la mer. L'Océan, qui ici est le domaine de Iemanja déesse des eaux salées. Son règne s'étend d'ici jusqu'au Brésil, et à Cuba, où ses enfants, anciens esclaves, peuvent tjrs l'appeler, à l'occasion du Candomblé, Macumba, Santeria. Et elle répond bien sûr.
Cet endroit est le même depuis tjrs. Et c'est le même que Pierre Fatumbi Verger a parcouru dans son travail photographique entre Bénin et Brésil.

MASSIVE thanks to thewishy, who surprised me by sending an Olympus XA2 from his collection of camera porn to a flickr contact distressed by the ongoing failure of her lc-a to provide more than four shots per 36exp film. Seriously, thankyou - film and film swapping material on it's way by some kind of recompense. :)
We were going to see Massive Attack at the Royal Festival Hall on the same day (it transpired) as the London flickr meet up, organised by squirrelmonkey and George on behalf of flickr. There had already been talk of a Bristol:London meet-up by sjnewton and it seemed practical to 'kill two birds with one stone' as it were.
We followed the trail of pink and blue balloons and met up for the Tate Modern Street Art Walking Tour around Southwark, along with a vast number of other flickr'rs. There was time for pictures along the Embankment at the end of the walk, before the inevitable pub meet up. It was so well organised that we even had a free drink (mine's a large Pinot Grigio please!) and a vast array of sandwiches for lunch. We met loads of people - swapped film and photography stories and generally had a good time.

The damned get their first taste of the flames in the west window of the chapel of St John's College in Cambridge. The chapel was built from 1866 to 1869 and the window is by Clayton and Bell.

The insert is an enhanced view of what is hard to see in the webcam photo.
The pantograph is positioned by Lloyd on the plaster foot. The touch wand- at Marco's end- defines a corresponding point in space. Then, Marco moves the floating touch wand and places its tip where the pantograph indicates. Since the triangles are drawn on the plaster foot, he now has a point of reference for some part of the foot's heel...
But, they don't weld the outside surface points, first: they weld the inside first.
What I don't get is how they use that point- which is a surface point- to determine where to position the steel for the inside.
