I eviscerated a metal pen and then filled it with a slice of a blue dish sponge. Voila! Touch screen stylus.

This photo was taken as part of my coverage of the Apple 5th Generation 2012 iPod touch. They were all taken with the iPod touch camera, untouched or edited. You can see the full video & much more at www.youtube.com/geekanoids

Reminds me of how the San in southern Africa used to place their palms on paintings of eland on rock surfaces to receive their power, and how in Palaeolithic times humans would spread their fingers over a rock surface the spit colouring over their hands and the rock surface possibly to feel they are entering the rock through the membrane between one world and another. Of course this man's action has nothing to do with all that!

Or, as some call this, an MTmini.

Materials (including camera) were provided by my lovely friends at CanTouch. It was built with some help from my sister, who's an extremely gifted crafter/maker and has a kick-ass workshop.

On my Mac, I can read this thing's output and process it using BBTouch. From there I make use of the Reactable team's TUIO library for Processing to prototype stuff.

Visual output is on my Mac's screen, so it's not a true multi-touch interface, but it's enough to experiment with things. Once I have something running I'd be able to simply load it on a proper table and really play with it.

Now, what shall I build…?

Found a nice new way to create colored backgrounds...I use a piece of plexiglass to create infinite backgrounds, then spray paint acetate sheets for color. Thats how i got the gold. Enjoy

Touch

Simple, ain't it?

But somehow I miss it so much.

Touch

Simple physical touch, the reaching hand

Cuddle

Expressing ones feeling in a way

No words will say

A touch of the souls

Driven by intimacy and care

That is surrounding and comforting.

So much

In just so little

The military uses Roanoke Regional Airport for pilot training, whether it is a small Naval trainer from Oceana NAS, or the big Air Force VIP units from Langely.

This 757 variant was making passes while I was on my way to the rec center, then changed it's route just as I got there. But I timed it just right to arrive at the bottom of the hill where I live to catch this shot of it coming in on final. I got inside, and went out on the balcony to await the next pass, when suddenly it came from the other direction! I got off three shots of it heading around for another pass, and waited for it to come back, as I would now be ready for it when it cleared the roofline. I got two more shots, and that was it's last run. Wheels up, it headed back to home base, and I was at the end of the roll. 39 shots on this one.

That's all the testing for now. For a 95 cent camera, it did good. I don't know if I can use 100 ISO film in it, as that would at least help a bit on the resolution. From the looks of the exposures though, I think this camera was made for 400 speed film, so I wouldn't want to waste exposures trying out the 100. This one is not an award winner, but it would do in a pinch.

Friends of ours have a cottage in Healey Lake on the Muskokas ... just spent a couple of days with them ... before they head south for the winter ... gorgeous weather ... enjoyed the last few days of summer ... there aren't enough of these days in my opinion ...

"Wanna watch Charton Heston play a Mexican?" (Get Shorty).

Venice beach was the location used as a Mexican boarder town for the 1958 thriller "Touch of Evil" (top) with Charton Heston and Janet Leigh. When possible, I tried to match the location of the screen grab.

Touch is a huge thing. I didn't spend the pandemic touch-starved because I have a spouse, but I went for a really long time before I could hug my favorite person besides my spouse, and it reminded me of just how important all of the different ways that we touch and physically connect with other people are. And it's alwyas a bit something trying to represent touch in my photography because there's a bunch of ways I'd rather not do it, so I have to sometimes wait for the right set of people to come along. Like some of my favorite circus performing duos. Or, in this case, katelyn_colia and katherinegilmur.

The artist stood back to admire his work. He'd been commissioned to create this scale model of the Statue of Liberty for the museum's new exhibition and it was nearly complete. He'd finally finished applying the base colors and now all that was needed were a few finishing touches.

This vignette was created for Category B of the Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigs Series 6 contest.

The requirement of this category was to create an architectural scene between a Series 6 minifig (in this case, Lady Liberty) and one or more minifigs from Series 1 to 5 (in this case, the Artist from Series 4).

As required for the contest, this is the vignette without Lady Liberty, the Series 6 minifig.

See 3a to see what this vignette looks like with the Lady Liberty minifig included.

Yeah, we've opened the white cable package but haven't yet dug the extremely minimal "manual" out of the package (here under the white bezel).

With OHLE issues in the Law Junction area requiring a significant stretch of the WCML in Scotland to be isolated (including south of Carstairs) it was touch and go at one point whether 1S26 was going to leave Euston.

Having made a last minute dash to London to catch 1S26 and make sure I had a trip behind GBRf's 92 032 before it becomes a tunnel/freight only locomotive, I was pleased when the go ahead was given for 1S26 to start its long journey north.

It ended up being a (much) longer than anticipated trip behind 92032 on the Caledonian Sleeper Lowlander - and to Edinburgh rather than Glasgow, but more of that later!

Still to undergo its main overhaul, 032 still carries GB's previous parent company's branding, despite Europorte selling GB to Hector Rail in 2016.

The Touch of Dreams

The “Made in Jablonec 2014” show has been given the sub-title “4 inspirations”. The models have been divided into four themes: the urban jungle, geometry, the touch of dreams and a great occasion. PRECIOSA ORNELA presented two collections of models with costume jewellery made from beads and seed beads from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads brand. preciosa-ornela.com/Fashion-show-2014

So one last touch and then you'll go

and we'll pretend that it meant something so much more

but it was vile, and it was cheap

and you are beautiful but you don't mean a thing to me.

I wanted to believe in all the words that I was speaking,

as we moved together in the dark

and all the friends that I was telling

all the playful misspellings

and every bite I gave you left a mark.
