In A.A.H.H. Virgen de la Candelaria, on the outskirts of Peru’s capital city Lima, slum residents reflected on the programmes and activities that have contributed to improving their rapidly urbanising community.
AAHH stands for 'asentamiento humano', or 'human settlement', and refers to any residential area outside a city.
The community has mobilised to make improvements to infrastructure and access to services themselves, and have approached government and NGOs to be included in programmes that continue to bring benefits to residents.
