However hard we worked, there was always a danger of falling off the paths in our community. One day we decided to start working on a big road. Everyone in the community got together and started to work really hard just like before, but this time we applied to a company to lend us machinery for three months. We provided the petrol for the machines, the tools and the spare parts in case they were needed, which in the end was still a lot of money. In this way, we made the road dream come true. When it finished it was a huge success, through the union of all the population and our leaders.
The reason I am telling this story is not just to see the success of our work, but because we need to carry on working at it – because in the winter months it is still very complicated and difficult to walk, not to mention how hard it is for vehicles which can hardly reach our destination because some of the roads are so steep.
If the roads were paved it would be much better and would be a big change for all our community and for the welfare of our children. This is why I want to tell my story. Because I believe that with the support of different NGOs and with the union of all our community, we can make it happen.
