The fishing industry has been an important source of income for the province of Zeeland. Due to the closure of the many waters in this delta by the Delta Works, many fishing ports have lost their function. Fortunately, there are still fishing vessels that are mainly engaged in the cultivation of mussels and oysters.

Bruinisse

Bruinisse, a small town in the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It used to be a sea port untill the Deltawerken closed the connection to the North sea. Nowadays still a fishing harbor and famous for the many nearby oyster- and mussels beds.
