"The Spinebone's Connected to the......Brain Bone"
Day 61 of an Unknown Number
"The Spinebone's Connected to the......Brain Bone"
My wife received a head-sized box in the mail the other day from her father. For a second, I thought we were going to have a "Se7en" moment. There was no corpse inside......just a corpus callosum!!! Alright, it was a plastic model of a brain. My wife uses it at work.......and I'm sure she could use it at home to show me where I am lacking. What was the question? Oh, the lighting! I placed my brain.......well, my wife's brain.....actually, her brain model....on my Plexiglass. I placed a gridded strobe at camera-left, about a foot from our subject. It had a reflector and the grid on in order to really focus the light on only the brain. I then stuck a gridded and gelled speedlight behind our model, and created the blue ball of light on the white paper. In order to add a little flavor to the image, I used my 80 mm Lensbaby Composer Pro II lens. It allowed me to bend the lens, creating a shallow depth of field. If you look closely, you can see the cerebellum and brain stem are out of focus. It is just a fun tool to use when playing with the brain. Thanks for ponsing for a moment to take a look!! Oh, that didn't work.
