Portrait 32

Day 32 of an Unknown Number

"Portrait 32"

I am currently prepping for a beauty line product shoot, and needed to work out a lighting set-up. So, in preparation, I thought I would use another subject. Logically, a halved brussel sprout made the most sense. The lighting I came up with is a three (maybe four) light situation. There are strip banks at both sides, just out of view of the camera. They supply all the light on the face of our young model. On a bottle, this light will create two similar bars of light, so commonly seen on product shots. With that being said, these two streaks of light could be a nuisance. This is because some of the bottles have logos with highly reflective, gold fonts. If the light is not even on the lettering, part is washed out, and some parts are brown. Because of this, I may decide to shoot the product names with a snooted speedlight from above. This will provide even lighting on the font, thereby eliminating the annoying white/brown issue. Are you still reading this? Thanks. Lastly, and not to be forgotten, is the strip bank behind the piece of Plexiglass, on which our model stands. The camera is staring directly into the light, and the black Plexiglass is directly reflecting the light, thereby eliminating the horizon line behind our veggie friend. If I didn't have a body, I would love to be photographed in this manner! Thanks for stopping through!!
